Well documented in several languages, interesting historical facts and anecdotes in a very respectful and sobering setting.

I was lucky to join the group organized by the Eurocentre Brno. It was a hot summer day and the air was full of the pleasant smell of blossoming lime trees. This cemetery was founded in 1852, in 1916 the cemetery was enlarged to become the biggest in Moravia. There is more than 9,000 graves and many well known personalities are burried in this place. The most popular grave is definitely the one of Hugo Haas, the film star and film director (18 February 1901 – 1 December 1968). Another well known personality burried in the Brno cemetry is Hieronymus Lorm or else Heinrich Landesmann (9 August 1821 – 4 December 1902) who was not only a poet and writer, but also a developer of a specail communication system in the form of tactile signals for those people that lost sight and hearing. The biggest tomb belongs to the family of Tugendhat. It was perfect we had a chance to watch the film Jewish Brno afterwards.
