9 Cabarets in Florida That You Shouldn't Miss

April 5, 2022 Fernanda Pittenger

Not just for retirees and theme park enthusiasts, the Sunshine State offers beautiful beaches, pristine diving conditions, and sizzling nightlife. Salsa the night away in a smokin’ hot Miami club, or swing away at one of Kissimmee’s many premium golf courses. An airboat tour of the Everglades is an unforgettable adventure – just look out for alligators! For the risk-averse, a lazy day spent on the soft sands of an Emerald Coast beach is as rejuvenating as a spa treatment.

The Cabaret At La Te Da

What a performer! I didn't want the show to end. Loved the story telling and humor and the acts! Icons like Bette, Cher, Marilyn! I am so glad we went. I hadn't planned well so my husband and I just showed up in hope's there were seats still available! Very reasonably priced, two drink minimum which is the norm for most shows/comedy clubs we have attended near where we live and honestly I wish I had looked into even staying at the hotel! The bars, outside of the hotel and whole package looked wonderful! I wish I could had stayed and caught another show but our time in KW was so short. Next time! Thank you for one of the highlights to our trip!

Florida Studio Theatre

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) is one of the major cultural resources in the Gulf Coast region, bringing the best in contemporary plays, musicals, and comedy to the Sarasota community since 1973. A professional regional theatre with the largest subscription base in the state, FST serves more than 230,000 live attendees each year across its six core programs: Mainstage, Cabaret, Stage III, Children’s Theatre, The FST School, and New Play Development. Located in the heart of downtown Sarasota, FST consists of five theatres—each providing intimate and engaging settings for high-quality, professional performances. Since its founding, Florida Studio Theatre remains firmly committed to making the arts accessible and affordable to as many people as possible. Under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Richard Hopkins, FST develops theatre that speaks to our living, evolving, and dynamically changing world.

We attended two performances at FST this year: American Son, and Light My Fire. They couldn’t have been nice different. The first was a tense, troubling drama and the second a light-hearted musical trip through the sixties. Both were very well done. Both times we ate at the FST, once cabaret style, which we really enjoyed. Will definitely be back next year.

The Players Centre for Performing Arts

The Players Centre for Performing Arts is Sarasota’s community theatre, dedicated to delivering quality productions and keeping the community engaged with the arts. The Players seeks to provide an artistic outlet for locals and visitors alike to experience live theatre and live theatre training. The Players is a non-professional community theatre, located on the “Cultural Coast.” This location gives us an incredible talent pool to work with. From our Artistic Director to our stagehands, half of the volunteers working on a production have at one time been professionally paid performers. Many professional performers retire and are drawn to the area thanks to all of Sarasota’s arts offerings. These professionals bring their experience, training, families and often their extensive resumes with them to our stage.

I had the pleasure of seeing, "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" recently and was blown away by the talent onstage and the quality of the production overall. On entering the theatre, we were greeted by a stunning set -- I completely believed I was in their house looking out at the pond. The acting was meticulous. All of the emotions were true and believable. I look forward to attending many more productions!
