We arrived in Siem Riep and spoke to the hostel staff about all the things we wanted to see in the few days we had. They immediately called to see if Rith (aka Mr. Why Not) was available to show us around, and lucky for us, he was! We were extremely fortunate to have such a safe, funny, kind, and accomodating driver to suggest the best places to see at the best times, and to go above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and making the most of our visit. We even asked him to go off the beaten path and take us to a remote temple in the forest, to where no tuk tuk has gone before, and this was his response: "Why not?!?" He provided honest answers to all our questions about past and current life in Cambodia, the drastic changes that the country is experiencing, and he had us laughing all the time with his stories. After three days with Mr. Why Not, we are happy to call him a dear friend and would highly recommend that anyone on vacation in Siem Riep reach out to him and make your Cambodian experience amazing!

The life-support system and gateway for the temples of Angkor, Siem Reap was always destined for great things. Visitors come here to see the temples, of course, but there is plenty to do in and around the city when you're templed out. Siem Reap has reinvented itself as the epicentre of chic Cambodia, with everything from backpacker party pads to hip hotels, world-class wining and dining across a

Very cheap ticket if you look online at various websites. ‘Book A Way’ was the cheapest for this journey by $2 with the journey costing $10 in total. An absolute bargain considering the length of the journey. Free pickup from the hostel. Oddly, five people and all our bags fit inside the 4-person Tuk Tuk with people sitting on laps. The driver put my big 60L bag on the seat of the motorbike and sat on it. Quite comical! Bus was new and modern inside, a Toyota, and the engine sounded well-maintained. Leather seats which were comfortable by usual minibus standards. Air con worked very well. I noticed an air vent for each seat (three in a row). The breaks are good on the bus! Driver was professional and courteous. The stop was made as planned roughly half-way through the journey and we had 20 minutes to stretch our legs and get something to eat. As is usual with transportation in SE Asia, people were picked up along the way. I just wanted to mention, before I finish this review, that they lady working behind the desk at the check-in office was lovely. She deserves a promotion!

I booked a night bus from Siem Reap - Sihanoukville incl. a boat ticket to the islands and a return ticket to the mainland though my hostel Funky Flashpacker where they picked me up one hour before departure. It was 27$, was estimated to take 13 hours, but the bus ride only took 10 hours even though there were a lot of stops. Then we had a ride to the pier. And by the time I was on my boat it was only 12 hours. The big bus was Virak Buntham and there were no windows in the lower bunk bed. And no toilets. I think the driver stopped twice for the restroom, I’m not sure. Didn’t use it. I had to share a approx. 110 cm wide bunk bed with a bigger Chinese man. It was only annoying 30 % if the time, he was ok at staying at his part, but I am very small girl so that why it was easier for him to take over my part and also because I’m a small girl I didn’t have a problem with the beds. I slept through probably 70% of the time. If you’re not small as me (local person size) I would recommend that you take a bus with single bed option, I didn’t because it was a bit more expensive and I was fine. Also used the company from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap in a minivan. It was 7 hours 8am-3pm, no problems. Brought you to the main bus station a bit way from Siem Reap city center, so you’ll need a tuktuk from there.
