The medieval castle above the town of Thun is a striking focal point at the entrance to the Bernese Oberland region. This almost completely preserved symbol of power contains the Knights' Hall, one of the few surviving halls of its type from the Middle Ages. Built at the end of the 12th century by the Dukes of Zahringen as a purely administrative castle, this striking building was extended by its new owners, the Bernese, with its impressive roof in the 15th century. The five floors of the castle now house a historical museum highlighting the region's history, as well as host temporary exhibitions on a variety of cultural, historical and current issues. Concerts and other public events are held in the intact knight's hall. The corner towers of Thun Castle provide an unforgettable view over the city of Thun, Lake Thun and the mountains.
A very interesting and reasonable visit for anyone interested in the history of the area, with the added bonus of spectacular views of the city, countryside and stunning mountains and lake. Very friendly staff. Try to park in the nearby underground parking.

We spent a very pleasant hour or so viewing this beautiful work. It is a marvel given the size of the painting and when it was done and the patience and dedication of the artist is truly inspiring. A must see. Highly recommended.

A boat ride around the lake that stopped at the tourist attractions/destinations sounded great. Although we were concerned about several aspects of the Hop-On, Hop-Off cruise, such as how many stops did it make, how long was the interval until the next boat arrived, and did it make a complete round-trip, that is what we had initially planned to do. We thought we would find the answers to those questions at the boat dock office in Interlaken. All that fell through when we were unable to find the dock from which the boat departed. In retrospect, it probably worked out better since our day trip driving around the north side of Lake Thun was extremely enjoyable and provided some great sights of the beautiful shoreline. We were also able to spend as long as we wanted at each stop and visited some places that the boat does not stop. I think our favorites were the St. Beatus Hoehlen caverns, Oberhofen Castle, and the ride up to the Niederhorn. At many spots, you are treated to fantastic panoramic views of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps. Even if you’re visiting during the summer, you may want to bring a light jacket since the wind off the lake is rather cool. Also, several of the car park lots at the various stops are for-pay lots, so make sure you have some coins. We toured the lake on a weekday and, surprisingly, it wasn’t very busy.

This major shopping street of Thun is interesting as it had a street level and a raised promenade level, so for much of the street there are two levels of shops. Nice to stroll and to window shop.

A leisurely stroll along the Aare, watching surfers at the wooden bridge, strolling through the beautiful old town. Thun has a lot to offer and is beautiful. A small town worth seeing to linger. There are plenty of cozy restaurants and cafes and in most places you can sit outside.

Highly recommended to spend evening or afternoon two to three hours at this area and its surrounded, best place to have look at Lake and Famous Attractions and with its views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, is almost as attractive as the architecture itself.
