Ujjayanta Palace

This is, by far, the best way to have a thorough insight into Tripura's rich history and its neighboring states. A palace that had disallowed the eldest son of Ishwar Chandra Manikya - Nawadipchandra Manika - to take the throne - now holds up a large potrait of his son Sachin Dev Burman right at the Entrance. Where else can you find self-belief that "Karma is greater than Janma (You are because of your work - not because of your Birth)".

Unakoti

Reviewed By SatyendraGarg - Port Blair, India

I had heard of Unakoti ever since I had a chance to come to Tripura a few years back. It required about half a dozen visits to the state to make it to Unakoti, meaning one less than ten million and a pilgrimage site. It is unbelievable as to how this beautiful place came to exist, that too, more than a thousand years back. The rock cut bas relief images of Lord Shiva, Parvati, Ganesha and other Gods and Goddesses take your breath away. The locale of the place is so exotic. All green surroundings, in the midst of the hills, is a truly fabulous experience. Without doubt, one of the best places I have visited and will cherish it for all times to come. The legends of Kallu Kumhar and his falling short of carving one crore images, in one night or the Lord Shiva cursing his companions who did not get up at the prescribed time enroute Mount Kailash or Kashi and became stones, add to the beauty of the place.

Tripura Government Museum

Reviewed By P_and_T_Herefordshir - Herefordshire, United Kingdom

The Palace in its formal garden setting is beautiful from the outside, especially in the evening when floodlit. On the inside, you get little impression of what it originally looked like because it has been turned into the State Museum, but it is a very interesting and well-presented museum. Note: Rather confusingly, TripAdvisor has separate entries for the Tripura State Museum and Ujjayanta Palace. They are the same place!

This is a must-visit place if you are in Agartala. The miniature of important places is installed in this garden. The garden is quite big. The railway circuit in Tripura is also shown here. I liked this place very much.

Neermahal Palace

As part of the Know India Program, we were taken to his place. At first I did know what to expect as we all know India for Taj Mahal. But this palace is a hidden beauty is is not often talked about. Its located in the middle of a lake and is surrounded by water which makes it stand out. The best thing I loved about the palace was that there was no restricted area and we were allowed to take pictures of its beauty. Since this attraction has not gained much popularity hence it was less crowded only a few locals were around. I suggest the best time to visit this place is during the sunset.

Very nice place as well as temple to visit. It is in border of Indo Bangla. People can see Bangladesh trains going around. Scenic beauty is very nice. Particularly lake view. Kasbaswari Kali mata, the Goddess Kali Temple is very nice. You will get fresh milk peda (sweets). Disadvantage is that there is no mobile network may be due to border areas.
