9 Biking Trails in Cornwall That You Shouldn't Miss

May 5, 2022 Jasper Kershner

Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

Just completed the Coast to Coast Trail and what a great ride. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope the below helps anyone thinking of doing the ride.... Route: Portreath - Devoran - Portreath Recommend starting at Portreath. Difficulty: Easy/moderate trail. Mountain bike rather than hybrid. Time/distance: Approx 2hrs each way, 19km/11miles. Bike Hire: We used Coastal Trail Cycle Hire. Good quality bikes and James will deliver them to Portreath for your ride and collect again. Food: We enjoyed a great lunch at the Old Quay Inn in Devoran. Parking: As you enter Portreath there is free parking on the left hand side. Arrive early to get a spot.

We were recommended to try this company and do the Wadebridge - Padstow bike ride by some friends. The company were excellent - I pre-booked and all the bikes were ready when we arrived. The young man helping us couldn’t have been more helpful adjusting seats and inflating tyres, as well as helping us decide between a ride along bike or a trailer for my son. We had amazing W weather and one of our best family days out on our Cornwall holiday. We will definitely use again and highly recommend!

The Camel Trail

The camel trail is ideal if you’re a cyclist or a walker, the views are simply stunning as well as the old railway features that are still in place . My favourite part has to be from Wadebridge to Padstow. It’s approximately about 6.5 miles and relatively flat for the most part. Highly recommended for a great day out.

Staying in St Austell and like to take the dogs somewhere different each day. These trails are brilliant, so well situated. You can access them from Eden Project, and various other routes, then they cross and meet. Some have a stream running alongside, some are hard stone path walks, perfect for the rainy days we experienced. If you want a good few hours peace, google the nearest path to you. So much to see!

Really lovely ride. There are two sections that we had to go on roads but are rather quiet roads. Wouldn't have worked with our youngest this time last year because of that. Encountered a cow in the middle of the road also!
