Eclectic collection of bat art , world-class facilities and bat information set among restful gardens. Open all year but bookings essential as tour times vary between 3 and 6pm. Entry $20 adult and $10 children.
We stumbled across this place as it’s not highly advertised, but what a gem of a place it is! The tour was outstanding with all things “bats” carefully explained to us with such passion. So wonderful to see the bats rehabilitating. And it’s so clean!! We were amazed. Keep up the good work

One of the best visitors centres I've ever stopped at. It's more than just walls of brochures, it has excellent displays of local history (settler and Indigenous) and information on wildlife - including taxidermy examples. Worth stopping. (also, importantly, nice toilets.)

Welcome to Mareeba Heritage Museum & Visitor Information Centre. Gain an insight into the region's history and attractions by visiting the Mareeba Heritage Museum & Visitor Information Centre. The Centre is situated 63kms from Cairns on the southern outskirts of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands and is open from 9am - 5pm, seven days a week. What a wonderful and informative experience. Amazing exhibits and movement sensors that start the audio commentary. Whether you are interested in the history of tobacco farming, early explorers, mining or local history, this is the place for you. Think Herberton Historical village but on a smaller scale. Definitely worth a visit. Not air conditioned inside so recommend a visit in winter.

The Malanda Falls Visitor Centre is located on the Atherton Tablelands west of Cairns, in the midst of the crater lakes and waterfalls region. Enjoy a nature walk, swim in the falls pool or just relax on the wide veranda's. Information from locals about the local town and rainforests as well as the rest of the Atherton Tablelands. Let us help you to enjoy your visit to this spectacular part of the world!
We visited the Malanda Falls Visitors Centre today, and the wonderful volunteers were so helpful and were always keen to explain any if the exhibits. COVID19 has closed a number of the exhibits requiring headphones, but even so, the remaining viewings were well presented. We bought a sneaky sticker and card with the elusive tree kangaroo, before heading out to the nearby Falls and walk in the hope of seeing one in the wild.

Lovely centre, very helpful lady who gave us a discount voucher for the butterfly garden. Had a nice chat while admiring the cases of stick insects and little tree frogs. Definitely worth popping in :)

We have a background in tourism and usually find the best place to find local information is at the Visitor Information Centre. In this case, we found a gem. Nicole was the staff member on duty and we found her to be not only a wealth of great information, but so passionate about all that the area had to offer. She is a real asset to tourism in the area, so thank you Nicole for your time, knowledge, passion and that you took as much time with us as was needed to ensure we got the most out of our visit to the area. All your tips were well appreciated.

We had problems finding the ideal place to see a platypus. The clerk at the Yungaburra Information Centre was very nice and she gave us several options. At the end we were laughing. She gave us a map where we possibly could see a platypus. We had fun trying to find a platypus, without any success. Still, we had a good time. I liked the museum in the Yungaburra Information Centre. It was all about the animals in this region. It was quite interesting and it was free. We learned a lot here and we were looking forward in seeing some of these local animals. Worthwhile to see!
