The Quality Inn Sept Iles hotel looks appealing from the outside. It is a new building in the parking lot of the town's biggest mall. Having a 24-hour Walmart next door was quite nice as I needed a few essentials for my travels. Check in was unpleasant and inhospitable. There was a ‘Back in Five Minutes’ notice on the counter. I waited about ten, but needed a pee, so went to the toilet. When I returned I said good evening to the woman who now sat behind the reception desk, but she was busy playing solitaire, so did not bother to look up. As I approached the desk I said that I have a reservation. At that, an annoyed face looked up at me and uttered, very sharply, “What?” I was a bit taken aback. I repeated that I have a reservation and told her my name. “What?” she snapped for a second time, “Name?”. I repeated my name. “Spell it!”. I spelled out my three letter surname that I am sure she could have figured out for herself had she cared to. Wordlessly, she thrust a form in my general direction for me to initial and sign in several places. I asked what time breakfast would be. “6.00am!”, she grumbled. “Until what time?” I enquired. “What?!” she responded..... and so the one-sided conversation went on until I asked her what her name is. She wore no name tag, which is probably best if you planning to be openly rude and disrespectful to your employer's paying guests. Her name is Josie. I told her that she is rude and that she would be able to read about herself on Tripadvisor. After that she tried to crack a smile and look at me whenever I passed, but it was too late. The smiles should have been part of the non-existant welcome. What inspires hotel operators to hire such rude, condescending people to manage their guests’ first experience on arrival? These people can make or break an hotel’s reputation. I suggest that whoever runs the Quality Inn Sept-Iles starts by disabling games programmes on the desktop computer and then initiates customer relations training. If that fails, find someone friendly to welcome guests. It was blindingly obvious in the mall across the car park that Sept-Iles has no shortage of unemployed people who would love to be an hotel receptionist and they are friendly enough too. The hotel itself is bog-standard. There is nothing special about it. It is functional and clean, but rather dark considering how new it is. Breakfast was uninspiring, but it was here that I experienced my first smile from a Quality Inn Sept-Iles hotel employee, so that was a plus. I will try another property in the hope of a decent welcome if I return to these parts.

Last stayed at this hotel 17 years ago and this hotel has not been renovated since…… Everything from the paint, furniture, carpets, bathrooms need to be refreshed and redone. This hotel feels like an old motel along the highway and is far from the standard that I have been used to with the Gouverneurs.

The Chateau Arnaud was a wonderful place to stay. The hotel itself is beautiful. I The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were kind and always helpful. My husband and I had a late flight on the day we checked out and the hotel staff were so accommodating. They let my husband set up in a quiet area and work for the entire day. The staff even checked on us and made sure we were good. I will definitely return to this hotel.

The staff could not have been more helpful. Bent over backwards to to accommodate. Check in person, Brielle, just super. Breakfasts were always ready on time and scheduled early enough to meet our needs. The coffee provided was adequate but would have been better if it was fresh brewed.

Located in front of the bay, all rooms of the Hotel Sept-Îles offer stunning views of the sea and marina. You have access to the promenade on the waterfront as well as a playground for children. Enjoy the proximity to several conveniences, such as pharmacy, restaurants, a health center and relaxation, cruises services (marine mammal observation or excursions on different islands) , cafes and pubs...
One night stay, hotel is so dated, bathroom is from the 70’s. We had requested 2 renovated rooms, just got one, Would not recommend. They charge more for waterfront view. Not impressed, even though the chamber lady tried to help us change rooms.

My husband and I stayed at this property for 1 night in late August on our way to Havre-Saint-Pierre. The hotel is easy to find as it's right on highway 138 as you arrive in Sept-Iles. Check-in was quick and friendly. The property is similar to a motel: you park your vehicle at your room's door, which is quite convenient to bring in your luggage. Our room was at the back of the property, away from traffic on highway 138. It had 2 double beds, a small table with 2 chairs and a work desk. The room was very clean and had vinyl plank flooring instead of carpet, something I greatly appreciate as I suffer from allergies. The bathroom had the toilet and shower (no tub) together behind a door and a separate area for the sink within the room. Parking and wifi were free at the property. For those of you with electric vehicles, the property is about 1 minute away by car from Sept-Iles' fast charging station. There is no restaurant on site, however there are several options within a 5 minute drive along highway 138 including St-Hubert, Mike's (serves breakfast), McDonald's and Subway.

Positive side: very clean bathroom, ceramic flooring in bedroom, clean pillows Negative: stained mattress with hair and crumbs on bedsheets between head of bed and wall. Bed springs are horrible and noisy. Heard bedroom doors slamming all night and heard the traffic too. Carpeting in hall is old and smells like cigarette, probably due to people smoking at the end of the hall standing halfway outside and inside the hotel. One or two English channels on the tv.
