En-suite, private room, dormitories and camping. BazBus Stop. The Green Elephant is the closest hostel to Groote Schuur Hospital, in the heart of Observatory, where University of Cape Town (UCT) students from all around the world live and meet each other. The attractions are pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, a golf driving range, the original Observatory, Groote Schuur Hospital (where the world's first heart transplant took place), theatres and small art galleries. The annual Obs Festival is held on the first Saturday in December.
I loved this place. The staff was amazing and was always helping me where I needed help. The vibe feels like home, unlike Observatory backpackers, and Aanda and Arthur were great people to meet. The cleaning ladies were amazing and respectful of my items and personal space. They wanted to always ensure that my door and locked and that my things were safe. Damn, I will miss this place. My room was also amazing and they offered towels so that I could wash and dry. Amazing staff!

The newest backpacker hostel in trendy Observatory, Cape Town! We offer a comfortable stay in an amazing, clean, and secure backpacker with a great atmosphere. We’re right on the doorstep of all the bars, restaurants, theater, and nightlife that make Obs a great place to stay. An up to the minute travel desk, makes Observatory Backpackers a great place to base yourself while exploring Cape Town.
My guests and I ran into some bedbug and tick problems and we were afraid to approach management at first because they did not seem to believe us at first. They did handle the situation accordingly by moving us to other rooms that did not have bedbugs. Also, strangely we paid the second half of our payment once we checked in which was very different from most hotels and hostels. The spaces did not make me feel like home, and man does it get cold in their rooms. If you're looking for a great hostel that will make you feel at home while also giving you great services go to "Green Elephant Backpackers." I stayed there after leaving this place and they were 50x better! Oh yea, they had roaches too! smh

If staying in a funky art museum, jamming with musicians and meeting like-minded folk appeals, check into Bohemian Lofts. You will find comfy beds, hot showers and friendly staff. Want to book tours or activities? Let them arrange everything so you have more time to do what you really want to do. Enjoy the chilled atmosphere on the balcony overlooking quirky Lower Main Road.
Nice backpackers, offering double rooms as well as dorms. Location a little far from the main tourist attractions but the area itself has plenty of bars and restaurants. The room faced the main street so was a little noisy over the weekend as can be expected with its location. Staff really helpful with directions and advice during our stay.

I sponsored a couple, friends visiting. They thought the place was lovely and clean. I felt it was a bit pricey for a backpackers hostel at R 560 however breakfast was included. I could get a AirBnB private room cheaper however I booked on the day of occupation and could not wait for their response. Overall if you like the backpackers style it is worth visiting. It is also situated in a nice vibey area close to amenities.

Thoroughly impressed with the service at this place. The rooms are small, but perfect for a quick in-and-out. The staff are incredibly friendly, and always willing to assist. The apartments are well-serviced, with all basic amenities. Honestly, for the price point, I am doubtful one would get better. Cleanliness is absolutely spot-on, and the property is secure. The only downside is the off-site parking. It is a few minutes drive to Woodstock and the V&A, and within walking distance to fantastic restaurants and a welcoming night-life. DSTV and free WiFi come inclusive in the rate. We would certainly welcome a stay here again. Worth the money!

Very beautiful self catering guest house. Clean and well kept grounds. I was a pleasant experience. Friendly reception. Everything is working and the rooms are spacious. Good value for money. Some drawbacks thought; observatory streets are narrow and driving there is a challenge; parking is out in the street and relatively safe.. stuff to concider. Tx
