The Matlacha Cove Inn is built directly in the water on wood pilings with a water vista that is nothing less than spectacular. We are located in Matlacha (Matt-la- shay) on unspoiled Pine Island, Florida. We are accessible by boat or car and offer free boat dockage.
I was mesmerized by the view while staying at the hotel. We stayed in the Heron Room and I was able to wake up to a water view every morning. The room was very spacey for 3 people. Nice large fridge, oven, cabinet space and bathroom had great HOTWATER! Amazing view of the Sunset and the staff was so kind to us. I highly advise anyone visiting Matlacha…to book with them in advance for the Waterview rooms. Great local food and shops! So bring your boat, your poles and you won’t regret it. I can’t wait to go back again in the future! M.Rivera

Army Veteran Owner Janette keeps the "Botel" clean and neat. Stayed here multiple times over the years to fish. The Ice Cream place nearby is now a fudge store. " The Perfect Cup" is a 2 minute walk away for a great breakfast! Set and chill in the back after a day of fishing or explore the Art Town Matlacha. Enjoy!

I stayed in the Alligator room, it looked directly out on the canal and I could watch the fish jumping. It was a short walk to the many shops and restaurants in town. The large covered deck area was a great place for morning coffee or evening wine! The owner was responsive to the one issue I had during my 5 night stay.

We stopped for the night here on our way to the ferry for N. Captiva Island. We weren't there for fishing although if I had my own boat and wanted to fish, this would be a good place to stay for a week. The room was clean and the management very friendly. She didn't take credit cards but would accept a check.

There are two studio apartments facing the water, each with a queen bed, and kitchen area that has a fridge, large convection oven, two-burner cooktop, microwave, coffee pot, crockpot, and toaster. There are two studio apartments on the waterside, one with a king bed, the other a queen bed, they have the same kitchen and amenities as the street side rooms. They also share a deck that is just steps away from the seawall and fire pit. There is also a larger two-bedroom, two-bath cottage on the property as well. This cottage also has a pullout full bed sofa. There is a full kitchen, dishwasher included, and garbage disposal. The living and dining area are an open floor plan, with a large slider that opens out to a private deck facing the sea wall. We have laundry facilities on sight, we provide detergent and dryer sheets, the washer and dryer are coin-operated.
The property is beautiful, from the back. From the front 2 units? We had #1, and it has no windows whatsoever except those 2 facing the busy street. NONE. We had neighbors with a dog, we had neighbors with cars. We came back to the property several times to NO PARKING SPOT. We had to block someone in all the time, which is wrong. Called the owner, no call back still. And if you are not in the "big house"? you get nothing. We stayed here for 4 days and we got the 2 kayaks for 3 hours total. The people next door completely monopolized the deck, the dock, the boat, the kayaks, the yard, the chairs, everything. We were their guests when they felt like sharing. Then when we asked them why they thought they should be guaranteed 2 front parking spots every day? They told us to "call Sharon". Sharon does not answer the phone. These people called us "terrible people" for wanting a parking spot that we paid for. They were obviously better than we were and thought they should have the private use of everything. They were extremely rude. We had to ASK them to use the kayaks one day. Needless to say, the property says no dogs and says that you have use of kayaks. It does not say that you need to steal them in the middle of the night and wait for a turn with 16 people that were staying at this property. We never even got to see the boat... it was constantly gone. We will not be returning.

We offer three units with spacious rooms, kitchens, air conditioning/heating, cable television, Wi-Fi, parking, private decks and a dock with a glorious view of the Matlacha Aquatic Preserved. Visit local shops and galleries. Dine at local restaurants. All within walking distance of Matlacha-Cottages. Enjoy a day of birding and fishing right off our dock. Kayak through miles of mangroves on the Calusa Blueway or bring your boat and cruise to nearby islands. Our secluded fishing village is a world apart, yet only 30 minutes from Ft. Myers, 25 miles from Sanibel and Captiva beaches and within driving distance of golf courses and shopping outlets.
Our visit to Matlacha Cottages was the start and the highlight of our 12 day trip. We spent three days in total relaxed comfort. Our host, Marta, was fabulous and despite our attempts to have her join us on the dock, she refused, giving us total privacy and complete freedom on the grounds. We had a blast fishing, probably caught nearly 30 fish, mostly bonnet head sharks, and they are a hoot to catch. There were mangrove snappers, catfish, stingray and we saw a huge sheephead but he was very elusive. We enjoyed watching the dolphin in the morning and evening. The cottage was super comfy. Loved the cozy nature and the total cottage feel with beach colors and decor and the beautiful hardwood floors. One thing I really appreciated is I could walk the floors in sock feet or barefoot and my feet stayed clean, kudos to the cleaning staff! The entire place was very clean and I slept great considering I don't usually away from home. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and feel confident they would love the stay. It was just two of us, but would be perfect for a few more! We also just fell in love with the area. Matlacha is so much fun and populated by some really super neat people. I can't wait to go back and look forward to seeing Marta and her mom again, Thank you so much!
