I stayed 2 nights at the Sipi Falls Lodge (which was apparently previously called the Sipi Falls Resort). The view of Sipi Falls is perfect from the grass terrace at the front of the lodge and that is one of the main reasons for coming to this guesthouse. The guesthouse itself is pretty average but the quality of the accommodation is not what it is all about so don't hold your breath. My room was large but a bit minimal. There was a big bed with mosquito net, a strange little annex with sink and unplugged mini-fridge that is probably intended as a kitchen but completely unequipped except for running water, and a large bathroom. The floor in the main room was concrete with tiles in the bathroom. The bedroom also had a couple of cane chairs and coffee table. The bathroom had a geyser that worked well but was switched on from outside the room which is a bit awkward first thing in the morning. There was no shower curtain or enclosure around the shower box but a shower curtain covered the window. The floor of the shower was very slippery but much less so wearing the flip flops provided. There was no closet, just a few pegs on the wall and the wooden deck out front had an unplumbed, conventional bath set in it which was not an issue but pretty weird. The lodge has no internet. The staff were reasonably helpful and I appreciated the hot water bottles provided each night. The restaurant served plain food without much choice but it was fine for a couple of nights. My only real complaint was lack of cheap accommodation for drivers. My driver had to pay full price which was pretty poor considering that they were not full and most lodges provide discounted rooms for Uganda drivers/guides. The Sipi Falls Lodge is a reasonable choice if you want a superlative view of the falls and don't mind average accommodation and services.

Home of Friends is a convenient mid-range accommodation, just outside Kapchorwa Town, located on the flanks of Mount Elgon (2.000m. altitude). With its panoramic views and leisure opportunities, it is a perfect getaway from the hectic city life. The amazing Sipi Falls are located only 20 min. from the Guesthouse. Home of Friends offers delicious and healthy meals, such as pizza, sandwiches, salads and various pastas. Hosts Daan & Eliza are passionate about the cultural and natural beauty of Kapchorwa/Sipi Falls region and organize plenty of activities. The professional massage service gives you ultimate relaxation. Home of Friends has five double rooms + one triple room + one twin room with sizable beds, a good mattress, a toilet and warm (solar) shower. For the budget traveler, we have two twin rooms and one double room with shared bathroom. The Guesthouse is situated at a spacious compound with a secured fence. From the veranda and terrace you enjoy spectacular views over the Karamoja lowlands.
We visited Home of Friends Guesthouse in May 2022, near the end of the rainy season. The group I traveled with was well-organized, which made the journey from the capital city of Kampala to Kapchorwa less taxing. For two nights, Daan and his team made us feel at home. From delicious food to quick laundry, friendly staff and waste management in place. It was the ideal base for adventure tourism activities, the highlight of which was my 10-kilometer bike ride in Kapchorwa and honey wine tasting in Tyret. Our guide Joseph led us on an early morning run kapchorwa in the footsteps of champions. The nature walk to the caves and campground made me feel like I was in one of the quietest places on earth, where it is difficult to hear a rooster crowing at dawn. The campfire storytelling as organized helped me to uncover things I didn't know about the Sebei community - that running is a tradition. I recommend Home of Friends Guesthouse for those seeking off-the-beaten path adventure in Uganda, weekend trips from Kampala

Our work is guided by an overlying philosophy that for tourism to benefit all it must be sustainable. Our staff and local community are at the forefront of our decision making and as thoughtful stewards of our land we work to maintain a small environmental footprint. Set within the grounds of a unique restored former residence, Sipi River Lodge consists of a main house and seven detached accommodations for our guests, each individually designed with a thoughtful perspective on the backdrop of Kapsurur Falls. Within this picturesque setting you will experience intimate fireside dining, a comfortable reading lounge, an airy veranda, and a bar stocked with beers, wines, and a fine selection of single malt whisky. Sipi River Lodge’s location in the foothills of Mount Elgon, famous for three spectacular waterfalls, is home to an incredible number of bird species, some of the best Arabica coffee in the world, and magical sunsets. Join us for afternoon tea and cake after a beautiful waterfall hike and refuel with our hearty homestyle meals that celebrate the local produce.
The rooms are very comfortable and we had a nice view of the waterfall. The double showers were warm and novel. Although our neighbours had a leaking roof onto their children’s beds. Our informative and solicitous guide took us on some lovely walks around the villages. The staff are friendly and helpful. The garden is beautiful and the family pets are charming. The breakfasts are good. But much of the the food is stodgy, and at $20 per person per head, it is very overpriced. They should try to refine a simple menu of less complex dishes and do them to a higher standard. Learning how to cook pasta properly would be a good start. We made a good decision towards the end of our stay by eating down the road at Endiro Cafe.

Myself and my wife together with our two little girls hit the road for Kapchorwa on Saturday expecting nothing but an exciting stay in the Eastern part of Uganda and true to our expectation, we enjoyed every bit of our stay at Rafiki Lodge Sipi. The view from the lounge is breathtaking! Despite our family cottage having more that 4 beds, there was still plenty of space for the kids to play about as the weather was rather chilly for them to play outdoors. The staff were very friendly and helpful, meals were always on time and the guides were awesome. Sam and Sharif were always on hand to ensure that we were aware of the attractions in the Sipi area. For us the highlight of our stay was the visit to the Sipi falls and the man made caves, guided by Sharif who took time to give us a glimpse into the history and culture of the locals. In case you are travelling to Sipi, I highly recommend you contact Sharif on +256 703 584617 or Sam on +256 781 827963.

Room was not made up on arrival in the evening (clothes from previous guest in the room etc.) wanted to charge 50 USD for one night although the room was booked for 30 USD via a well-known hotel booking website Breakfast: only option eggs and coffee/tea, no bread/fruit or similar. Location great, had a cabin within coffee/matooke field, amazing view, room ok in general, only drops came out of shower, hot water was provided it is a nice idea to provide hot water bottles & warm blankets for the cold nights - but if they are not washed between guests it is unfortunately very unhygienic :( than rather freeze
