Culture & romance near the Neuschwanstein Castle The new romantic hotel Villa Ludwig is located in the quiet, fairy-tale setting of Hohenschwangau right at the foot of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles, just 3 km from Füssen. This fine Bavarian boutique hotel is located directly across the border from Tyrol and will enchant you with its sophisticated architecture and romantic ambiance. You will truly feel like a royal as you spend romantic and carefree days so close to Neuschwanstein Castle. The local Allgäu region is a recreational paradise with its clear, tranquil lakes, rolling hills and spectacular mountains. A combination of world-famous cultural, recreational and natural experiences makes it an unforgettable experience. Since summer 2017 you can also rent our exclusive chalet for 4-8 people, ideal for your special family vacation.
We had another wonderful stay at Hotel Villa Ludwig. We are multi-time guests at this hotel, but this is the first time we rented the chalet. We rented the chalet during their off season in Nov and had a wonderful time. Annette, the owner, and her staff made sure our needs were met and provided the hospitality that we’ve come to appreciate from this boutique hotel. But first, we need to describe the chalet. It is a historic building originally owned by a duchess of the Bavarian royal family. While it is a historic building, Annette has done a nice job upgrading the bathrooms and kitchen, including Miele appliances. They also installed an infrared sauna in the master bathroom. The kitchen comes fully stocked, allowing us to cook multiple meals and enjoy espressos and lattes. The beds are comfortable, and the chalet is well furnished. Allowing us to spread out and relax during the entire week we rented the place. The views were as shown. We had great views of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The chalet has a private drive and lots of outdoor space with a gas grill for barbecues during warm weather. As mentioned, Annette provided service above and beyond what was expected. We knew going in that the hotel proper would only be open for the first two days of our stay. During the period that the hotel was closed, Annette had fresh baked goods delivered each morning. What a nice touch. Then there were the personal touches, like sharing some wine one evening with Annette while discussing the area, hotel history, and other common topics. She helped us by providing suggestions on activities and reservations. One highlight was my wife’s birthday dinner. Annette made arrangements at a nice Italian restaurant, Restaurant Rivera, on the Hopfensee. When we showed up the staff was prepared, they escorted us to a decorated table with petals and sparkles. For dessert, the staff brought chocolate cake with a large sparkler. Annette has contacts with all the locals and can help arrange a host of services. This hotel has earned its well-deserved reputation as an outstanding boutique hotel.

This place is in serious need of some TLC. The rooms are bleak. The bed linens and towels are so old and rough, we honestly wish we had just brought our own. There was dirt all over the carpet. The bed was super stiff and uncomfortable. They even asked my mom who was in a room all to herself to only sleep on one side of the bed so she wouldn’t have clean and make-up the other side all over again. I mean gross! The bathroom was small and dirty. Front desk service was a bit off-putting when we checked in. This place could be so magical if whoever owned it cared just a little bit more! Because the view and location are truly unbeatable. But I suggest you take your €120 or more and spend it at a more decent and comfortable place to stay.

The Hotel Muller lies at the end of the “Romantic Road” through Germany, right beneath Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood and youth residence of King Ludwig II, his “poetic retreat”. It makes the ideal base for day trips to the surrounding area. One possible excursion is the “Castle Tour”: Linderhof – Herrenchiemsee – Nymphenburg. Or you could get to know the Pfaffenwinkel, which literally means “priests’ corner”, with its ancient testimonies to church architecture, such as St. Coloman, the Pilgrimage Church of Wies, Ettal Abbey, the pilgrimage churches of Andechs, Rottenbuch, and Altenstadt, and many more. Or visit the idyllic nearby villages: Fussen, with its historical old town; Oberammergau, famous for its passion play, or the world-famous winter sports villages of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Oberstdorf, etc.
Ok, the food was really excellent and the wiener schnitzel was a very good one. Compliments on that! The service was ok at first, but after a while the table with locals and hotel guests took a lot of attention. The waiter didn’t pay any attention to our table. With the prices of the restaurant, this is really not done. If you go there, ask in advance if they do like your money.

If staying in this hotel, we don't have to walk up to the castle Neuschwanstein and get discount for the tickets. It's only 5 min walk up to the castle. The room is nice, clean and comfortable. It is a good 3* hotel. Price value relation is very good. Only at night have to go (drive) down to town because restaurant closes at 5pm. But no problem at all.

We attach importance to a family atmosphere and offer you in our small hotel (which even has an elevator) in a quiet location, away from traffic, rooms with shower /toilet and terrace or balcony, with views of meadows and mountains. Some family rooms and apartments even have a magnificent castle views. The beautiful and peaceful surroundings contributes to a relaxing holiday. Guests can enjoy various activities, such as Hiking, swimming, cycling, paragliding or skiing. We are not a 3 star hotel but offer this standard
After 7 unsuccessful attempts to find lodging in Fuessen, we tried our luck in Hohenschwangau securing a room (possibly the last one) at the Alpen Hotel, a little out of the way place but well worth the wait. Of the 6 prior locations the only one under 100 Eu with all the same comforts except maybe the proximity to the Fuessen Altstadt. A cozy restaurant on the spot with great food - WIFI (unable to connect though) - good size room and updated bathroom hair drier soap - but no shampoo – supplied. Quiet night in light of the location - from the balcony of unit 20 one can enjoy an almost unobstructed view of the Castle - Breakfast good – egg, cereal, cheese, meats and those delicious breads and buns that are synonymous throughout of Germany.
