Studio Room

Stayed last night in a Queen Studio. Due to covid, reception isn't open all the time but we were spotted arriving, and before we knew it, was greeted without having to phone to say we had arrived. The benefits of a small town.. :) As other reviewers have said, we were shown to our room in a very friendly manner. Its little touches like this which makes a motel a welcome stay. The room was tidy and spacious and had the basics for the kitchen area. Proper salt and pepper containers rather than individual sachets was appreciated. Eco friendly. We self catered for our evening meal, but the Wobbly Kea was open for meals if needed. The road noise and freight trains really impacted on a good night's sleep, thus having to mark as average, otherwise would have labelled as 'very good'. I am deaf and even without my hearing aids in, I could hear the traffic / train noise. It was nice seeing the keas flying around the village.

Stayed in the bigger unit this time and was worth it. Nicely done out and warm with reasonable facilities. Fiona is an excellent host - your recommendation of Helicopter Hill for a walk was excellent - we really enjoyed it, and mostly out of the rain. Thanks for the stay.

We had a fabulous stay for two nights and can't praise them enough. The villa we were in was spotless and very comfortable. The shower was just great, which after a good hike nearby was very welcome. The beds were very comfortable and the supplied continental breakfast was generous and tasty. Matty & Kirsty were great hosts. We will be staying again! Such a beautiful spot to be in.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped

We stayed here because all the motels were booked out, we are of an age where we choose to no longer share. Been there done that for decades. Ended up being fabulous. Spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped kitchen. Room was comfy. Showers were great. Other guests respectful and quiet. Owner was very prompt around responding to emails. Key was left for us as we arrived after hours and a note with it clearly explained what we needed to know. It was a great stay.

Beautiful location, warm welcome

Others who have stayed here have covered the ground on the superlatives of the views, and I'm reduced to echoing them. We arrived right on dusk and were treated to the fading light with the mountain ridges backlit by the dyning sun. After dark we sat on the balcony gazing up through the crystal clear air at the brilliant array of stars, until the warmth of the log fire drew us inside. A hearty meal and a glass of wine, was followed by a conversation on a diversity of topics with our host, Helen. The bed was super comfy and we slept until woken by a cup of tea in bed, truly one of life's greatest luxuries. Homemade bread and muesli for breakfast. What a way to break our Covid -19 isolation.
