Set in 9 acres of farm land, Grains Bar Hotel offers a warm friendly atmosphere and free WiFi. We have an on site bar and restaurant which offers great homemade food, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Restaurant is open Wednesday to Sundays for none residents and 7 days a week for residents. We are surrounded by the beautiful Pennines, on the boarder of Lancashire and Yorkshire, with the Pennine Way on our doorstop. We have seasonal outdoor seating areas, with a large lawned area and children's play area so can relax and enjoy the views. With many fantastic walking, cycling and hiking routes to explore. We have bike storage, a room to dry wet clothes. The M62 Rochdale and Saddleworth exits and Oldham M60 are easily accessible and we have plenty of free parking. All of our rooms have a TV, free Wifi and tea/coffee making facilities. All bedrooms are en-suite and family rooms are available. Excellent views of the Saddleworth, Oldham countryside can be seen from most rooms.
My family decided to go for Sunday lunch ,if you want a fantastic lunch with first class service then the Grains Barr Hotel is the place to go , the Sunday lunch was beef or Turkey with all the trimmings, including fresh vegetables and the best cauliflower cheese you will ever have , the service was first class, my family will definitely be back very soon , thank you ,and very highly recommended.

We have just returned from a weekend staying here. The room was nice and clean, space adequate, and the bed comfortable. We booked a table for food on our first night. The evening meal was very disappointing and the service was terrible. Likewise the breakfast was awful. A very poor quality offering indeed and a district lack of staff on duty to ensure that items such as the orange juice and milk etc. were being topped up. During our evening meal as the night went on the bar area became quite rowdy. The bar staff appeared to be joining in also becoming rowdy with certain customer, which I assume were locals. There was a distinct lack of any seniority or management around. I would like to think the management reading this review will take action to improve the level of customer service as well as look at the quality of their food on offer. If you require somewhere to simply sleep over night and don't care much for food or refreshments this hotel will serve the purpose.

A very friendly welcome, comfortable room and good food, good beer and company. Ideally placed at the end of my second day on the Pennine way - it's a simple walk down the hill. A good traditional pub - not the sort of place where you have to worry about the mud on your trousers. Good traditional rooms above - and not quite as noise as I'd expected. The Rag pudding is a local specialty - try it!

Having stayed here previously and were well satisfied, on our return we were very disappointed. On arrival the room was very cold and they made no effort to warm it. On day 2 only the beds were remade Wash basin and shower not cleaned No new towels, soaking bath mat was left. Toiletries not replenished (empty ones just left on the floor as there was no shelf) Tissue box left empty Bedroom not hoovered Bin not emptied Refreshment box not topped up Milk pods out of date Lewis (the evening manager) was very helpful fulfilling our requests but at £95pn a night room only we would expect this to be done as a matter of course.
