I was in Ruoergai in August 2017, the best season of visiting prairie. We had a self-drive tour from Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture to Aba and Qiang Prefecture. It is well known as an Emerald inlays on the plateau of northwest Sichuan Province. The views were so extremely pure and peaceful. Mostly are glacier topped mountains, wetlands, blue sky with clouds, herds of sheep, cattle and birds. There are Tibetan villages with fluttering prayer flags, yurt with horses, winding rivers and lakes cross the grass. It is hard for me to leave, I strongly recommend this great area who wants to see wild scenery and look at the less visited part of China. It is definitely worth visiting.
