A monthlong honeymoon in the South of France changed the lives of two former art teachers. Michael and Amy Helton started Hanover Park Vineyard in 1996, 20 minutes west of Winston-Salem, in the heart of the Yadkin Valley. The wines created have an old world feel and visitors enjoy relaxing on the front porch with a glass of Michael's Blend or Mourvedre which are only a couple of the wines available at the winery.
Visited the tasting room at Hanover Park on suggestion from Charlotte residents. Weather was horrible (pouring rain) but the welcome couldn't have been warmer. Tasting prices are very reasonable, and the farm house that houses the tasting room is adorable. We brought appetizers with us and purchased a glass of wine each after tasting. The staff was so gracious and helpful. They even brought us some paper plates and let us spread out our food in one of the back rooms since the weather was not conducive to a picnic. If you are in the area, don't miss Hanover Park!

Every now and then you find a place you spend the day and not have a care in the world, here it is. Food paired was great and the owner and staff are always entertaining and just fun. My apologies for saying Australia not South Africa, but damn it the accents are close. If you are close stop and enjoy the views, the wines, and great conversation. Great job and much appreciated!!!!!

A cultural "campus" in downtown Yadkinville, the YCAC is a great trip destination with year-round artist exhibits in the gallery, a beautiful 193 seat state-of-the-art performance theater- featuring live music, dance and drama - a cafe, beautiful plaza with fountains and sculpture, resident artist studios and gift shop.
This facility and the associated performing arts academy draw visitors to Yadkinville, just a short drive up highway 421 from I40. There is a charming cafe, The Center Bistro,in the building and a buzz of artists and performances all year long. The primary building on East Main Street was constructed in the mid-20th century for the Adams Motor Company. The courtyard displays 'Aiming for the Mark' by Heloise Crista, who lived Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen West and a mosaic mural based on the historical art & culture of the Yadkin Valley region's original inhabitants, Native Americans. The seven points of the star represent different disciplines of art, specifically, 2D Visual Art, 3D Visual Art, Performance Art Dance, Performance Art Music, Creative Writing/Poetry, Moving Images and Drama. The dispersion of the "shards" represents the spread of artistic influence throughout the Yadkin Valley Region. Learn about the heritage and culture of the area through exhibits and events including a quilt trail and harvest festival.

My wife and I visited the Popcorn Farm And Factory for our November day trip and we had a great experience. We really enjoyed the tour of the factory and learned a lot about the popcorn process and how it is flavored. We left with bags of popcorn for our family, and look forward to bringing our grandson back for a visit. I highly recommend taking the tour and supporting a local family business.
