Make sure you have your GPS or a good map with you as there is no brown attraction sign for Charleston Falls on either I-75 (exit 68, three miles east to 202, south to Ross Road) or I-70 (exit 36, hwy 202 N to Ross Road). It is a hidden gem not too far off either of these well beaten paths that is well worth your time. The falls, canyon, and small cave are similar on a smaller scale to the terrain of the Hocking Hills without the press of people. Parking is free in the large lot and there are restrooms at the trail head, as well as a map, flyers, park rules, and other information. The park is day use only, closing at the time posted each day (5:40 pm on our visit). Any cars left in the lot are towed. To help prevent this, no one is allowed to begin a hike 30 minutes or less before the posted closing time. One of our family is in a wheelchair so we appreciated the main trail to the upper overlook is posted as a handicapped route. The trail is packed dirt and gravel, not ADA multi-surface, but it was only a few hundred yards long, very wide with no steep inclines, and was manageable, not too muddy. Falls were really flowing over and around frozen sections- truly breath taking.
