Ringwood Manor

I love coming to Ringwood Manor at Christmas Time. It really is a special place when you see it all decorated for the holidays. The whole house is in full Christmas decor. Each room has a different theme to it and is decorated to the hilt. The Friends organization does a nice job showcasing the house at the holidays. I am sure that the family did not decorate that much. My favorite room was the formal dining room that was set for Christmas lunch with all the tableware and fake foods on the side board. The house is beautifully decorated but not overdone. Remember to visit the barn on the property to see all the arts and crafts for sale. In the smaller gift shop in the house, take time to see all the handmade ornaments. One of the crafters is really creative. There is also a small coffee shop in the next building to have a snack. It is really a nice afternoon at the Ringwood Manor.

Ringwood State Park

My wife and our 22 year old son and I did a great 4+ mile hike on a hot Sunday morning. We arrived about 11am and there was ample parking ($5) . We hiked from lot A on the white trail- connected to the red trail and went past the lake ; and then kept following the red trail to the green trail and back to white - which dropped us back near lot A. It was hilly and rocky but the trails are well marked and well maintained. There is a beautiful garden on the grounds and the restrooms were open. Masks a must on the public grounds. It’s worth a visit.

I’m a nature lover. I follow the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in NY. I follow them on Instagram, which lead Instagram to suggest I follow NJBG. I’m so glad they did! Originally I wanted to get married in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. Waaaay to expensive. Once we visited the New Jersey Botanical Gardens - we fell in love!!!!! A dated manor (we love history too) on big beautiful grounds with one wedding at a time. Getting married 7/3/18

Norvin Green State Forest

Norvin Green is a gorgeous State Forest in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. You can enter the trails from Ringwood or Bloomingdale off of Otterhole Road. The trails are not easy, plan on wearing proper shoes and bring water with you. We live on the edge of the forest and people get lost so be prepared with a GPS. It is well worth the effort.

So much fun! A hidden gem! A bit remote, but relatively close to NYC and North Jersey suburbs and urban areas. Worth the drive, for sure. Novices and experienced shooters will love this place. The staff is simply great! Very patient and instructive.Go and have a blast!
