Remagen is a town in Germany in the Land Rhineland-Palatinate, in the district of Ahrweiler. It is about a one-hour drive from Cologne, just south of Bonn, the former West German capital. It is situated on the left (western) bank of the river Rhine. There is a ferry across the Rhine from Remagen every 10–15 minutes in the summer. Remagen has many beautiful and well-maintained buildings, churches, castles and monuments. It also has a sizeable pedestrian zone with plenty of shops.

The peace museum is a small museum, partly about the bridge at Remagen, and partly about peace in general.
The bridge at Remagen was a strategically important crossing which the allies used late in the way, before the Germans bombed it and destroyed it, killing a number of soldiers and engineers. The few days they had though allowed personnel to cross the Rhine, and hasten the end of the war.
There were some interesting exhibits, pictures, articles and exhibits. Only one of the audio / video exhibits were working. The museum seems out dated, and a bit like the little museum that could.
If you're in the area check it out however. The remains of the towers are still there, and the museum is held in one of those bridge bases.

We booked a ~2 hr "train" ride tour, which went to various parts of the farm. It included a tour of their egg incubator, to hatchlings, to all the way up to breeding ostriches, which by the way was very interesting to learn about and see.. The tour includes lots of information about the birds. It is a great activity to bring young children, as they can pet and hold a small hatchling. Our tour was in German language, and not sure if you can get one in English or not. Afterwards, there is a gift shop for anything from feather dusters to egg shells to fresh/canned meat. Also a restaurant, but we didn't stop there. Really a nicely and simply done attraction.

When we lived in Bad Godesberg, I took my son there a few times a year. The park is wonderfully situated with views of the Rhine Valley, and the Siebengebirge. Going there at different seasons allows one to see the change in flora and fauna. Watch your child pet the goats and deer and sheep, see the peacock show it's feathers, feed the freshlings (boar kids) and more. And if your kid still has energy after walking the trail: there is a nice playground and a large trampoline at the end.

St. Peter and Paul is a beautiful old Cathedral located in the old city of Remagen. While generally overlooked (both literally and figuratively) by the more famous St. Apollonaris Cathedral, St. P&P is definately worth a visit. The artwork, smell of old incense and simple, quiet peace are all reasons to stop. Parking may be found just around the corner in a cul-de-sac next to the Rhine. Be sure to also stop at the monument to Rudolf Caracciola just across the street from the exterior church wall.

The Romisches (Roman) Museum is a small museum dedicated to the Roman phase of Remagen's history. Although not a large museum, the displays are informative, interesting and offer a detailed look into a fascinating era of human history - all the more so given how many of the items were recovered and restored after being found in the Rhine River. Definately worth the stop.
