Be enriched, educated and inspired at the Port Pirie RSL Military Museum. This state of the art museum pays tribute to all Australians who served in armed conflicts and peacekeeping missions, with a special focus on the contributions of service personnel from Port Pirie and surrounding areas. There is plenty of parking for Caravans and RVs opposite our Club adjacent to the Port Pirie Harness Racing Club; and accessible from The Terrace. Centro Shopping Plaza is a brisk 2 minute walk from here.
What an excellent display the volunteers at the RSL have put together. With plenty of sobering facts from all missions in which Australian services have attended, plenty of displays, and the helicopter from the Vietnam War, I highly recommend all visitors to Port Pirie stop by. And please, leave a donation!

Swing by the Port Pirie Tourism & Arts Centre to kick off your Southern Flinders Ranges experience. Here you can learn about the secrets from around the region and view incredible artworks from local and touring artists. While you're here, check out the Visitor Information Centre, where passionate staff can guide you onward to the next stage of your adventure. Centre attractions: - Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery - "Shakka" the Shark (exact replica of Great White Shark at 5.5m long) - Virtual reality shark cage dive - Pirie Rail Express ride on miniature train (1st & 3rd Sunday of month - check with staff for availability) - Model Railway display (1st Sunday of month - check with staff for availability)
Very interesting presentation and information about sharks - learnt loads about them. Staff very friendly and helpful about other places to visit. Small shop with loads of goodies. Recommend to spend an hour here if in the area.

A most interesting museum, very comprehensive about the history of Port Pirie. I was particularly interested about the Italian community start there as I happened to have met someone from there who had already told me a little bit about it and also my husband did some work experience there as a young engineer when the train was still in the middle of the main road. A great view from the top when you carefully climb the stairs leading to the tower.

Having lived in Pirie for many years, we returned recently for a few days. This bridge was built many years ago, with rumours of what it's use would be, It had traffic lights at both ends, being single lane traffic only. Views are good from the other side
