The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation is a living history museum whose purpose is to enhance understanding of 18th century farm life in southeastern Pennsylvania by providing a high quality, research-based experience to the public. The Plantation was established and funded in 1975 as part of our nation’s Bicentennial celebration. Financial support for the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation came from both the public and private sectors. With this support, stabilization of the buildings and actual restoration began. Thirty acres of land were cleared, livestock was procured and extensive archaeological, research and educational programs went into operation. The Plantation is located on 112 acres in Ridley Creek State Park and operates under a lease arrangement with the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The formal structured education program which had been steadily growing since its inception in 1974 took on a more significant role in the mission of the Plantation. Each year, the Plantation’s On-site Education Program hosts about 10,000 teachers and school students from throughout the Delaware Valley as well as an occasional tour for seniors and other non-school groups. Also, thousands of tourists and local residents come to the Plantation each year to participate in regular and special weekend events. Guides in colonial are always available to interact with visitors, provide information, interpret colonial life and answer their questions.

Take a walk around the Memorial stopping at each of the nine 18ft granite columns where you will learn about American Wars and Conflicts from the War of 1812 to the Wars of the Middle East. Read quotes from Presidents and Generals and see through the eyes of the veterans as you read their words during times of war. Feel the never ending gratitude as you read the names of fallen soldiers Wounded Warriors, POWs and heroes of the armed forces etched in granite. Walk amongst the pavers honoring local love ones and supporting our troops with personalized messages. A fountain, located in the center, is a gathering place for reflection and it's constant flow reminds us of the memory of our Veterans which will be kept alive forever at this Memorial. Open 7 days a week, the Memorial Association is proud to honor our men and women in uniform with the Memorial dedicated to preserving the legacy of all Veterans and active members of the American Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and National Guard during any period from all over the nation.
Well done, artistic, tasteful, beautifully maintained memorial to our service men and women. A constant reminder of the debt we owe to those who fought for our freedom.

We stopped in with our kids a few days back during a rainy day. The kids love it! For the bigger kids, they have two large moon bounces with slides, as well as a large slide and a fun house for them to climb through. For little kids (three and under) there is also a little kid moon bounce near the front. For adults...there are a number of benches to sit down and relax. If you decide to stop in on a rainy day, its reasonable: about $8 per kid. But it is also great for parties - we have been there for several to date, and the kids always love it. The staff is also incredibly friendly. The location is easy to find as well - its in a small industrial strip just across from Ridley Creek State Park's entrance. Definitely a great and reasonable activity for the kids, especially on a rainy day.
