Located on the Nelson 151 Trail, Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery is nestled in the rolling hills of the Rockfish River Valley. Mountain views abound in every direction and the farm is beautiful and well maintained. Hill Top offers a unique wine tasting experience with True to the Fruit Wines and Authentic Honey Meads. Established in the 1990's, Hill Top is a second generation family business. There are several wine and mead flight options available, starting at just $5! The farm has friendly goats and even Scottish Highland Cattle.
Was a great visit. Wonderful options with a great server. $5 tastings with the fee waived if you buy a bottle of wine. Worth a visit. Good wines to cook with. Seasonal varieties too.

Located on the famed beverage corridor along Rt. 151 in Nelson County, the flagship Bold Rock Cider Barn opened in August 2014 and represents our company headquarters, center of operations and primary cider production facility. The ‘Chapel of Apple’ as it is affectionately known is a beautifully rustic timber framed barn overlooking the Rockfish River. Our staff will be happy to explain the process behind our award-winning craft hard cider and following a tasting, enjoy a pint, flight or delicious food from our Feed Room. The Nellysford Cider Barn is open daily at 11 AM.
Bold Rock is my go to cider at the grocery store and visiting the cidery in Nellysford was a real treat. Nice atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating -- terraced above the Rockfish River which you can walk to and enjoy. Limited food menu at the moment due to COVID but everything we tried was delicious. First visit we were able to get draft cider (Friday). Our second visit three or four weeks later (Sunday) only had canned cider available. Had a flight sampler the first visit and loved all the ones I tried. Flight sampler not available the other visit. Not sure why the difference, but we just rolled with it.

This place is crazy great!!! Being a non drinker I was not sure about dining at a micro brewery but man was i pleasantly surprised!! We had the steak sandwich, the reuben, the turkey melt and chicken tenders and all were OUTSTANDING!! Seating outside was perfect on this great day in early spring! Erin and Emily provided amazing advice and right on time service. My only concern was which meal I would choose tomorrow night when we come back for another meal!! This is top shelf comfort food done by a chef and not a cook!!! Do not miss out!! This was our best meal while in the Wintergreen area!!!
Hill Top at the Lake is the Clarksville tasting room for Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery. Taste True to the Fruit Wines and Authentic Honey Meads. Tasting includes a flight of 8 wines and meads for just a $5 tasting fee, which is waived with a bottle purchase. Hill Top has an impressive selection and the tasting lineup changes each week. Try the Lake Life Pear Sangria!
