For the first time in Europe, a museum stretches out over 30 hectares. It is not simply restricted to one single building containing archaeological collections but rather is spread out in the forest, marked out by unique experiences, each one opening a different door on the past. It is you who creates your path, your own travel diary through time and space. The Prehistomuseum is: 1 classified cave 2 permanent exhibitions 2 temporary exhibitions per year 9 outdoor experiences 12 practical workshops 1 archeorestaurant 1 plain of mammoth games 8km of forest walks 1 attractive shop 1 auditorium with 170 seats Series of lectures 1 training and research centre 1 presentation area for companies The original and offbeat 30 hectare museum for the whole family.
I went with my toddler and baby for the activities during Christmas, and we loved it. The highlight was the visit to the dark cave. He did it twice. All the staff were very friendly and Santa was great with his stories and Q&A :) The only negative thing is that it was very hard to take the baby stroller to the cave and Santa’s place because a few parts were very muddy. Also, there were parts with gravel and the stroller was stuck. A few notes to parents: - if you have a baby with your toddler, you need to be two adults, one to stay with the baby outside so you can visit the cave with your toddler (mandatory to accompany the child) - in winter, the child should wear rubber boots because a few parts are muddy and slippery. - the place has a baby changer and stools for kids to reach the sinks. - the staff were very kind and allowed me to use a chair in their meeting room to nurse my baby.
