Edenderry (/ˌiːdənˈdɛri/; Irish: Éadan Doire, meaning "hill-brow of the oak wood") is a town in east County Offaly, Ireland. It is near the borders with Counties Kildare, Meath and Westmeath. The Grand Canal runs along the south of Edenderry, through the Bog of Allen, and there is a short spur to the town centre.

Last year I had a horrible time with that shower down in Kilkenny, I didn't want that to spoil my skydive memories so decided to try again with Skydive.ie in Co Offaly. Really glad I did, they were miles better both as a company and as people. Everybody was really friendly, everything was well organised and professional and I couldn't fault anything.
As usual the weather meant that our drop was delayed most of the day, but we got regular updates from the staff and they treated all questions with courtesy and friendliness. It was also our 2nd time trying to jump, and unlike that dishonest lot in Kilkenny there were no issues at all with vouchers or booking. Once bought the voucher does not expire, no sneaky hidden charges or expiry dates, we simply spoke to them and they worked with us to find a date that suited.
The facilities were also miles better, they have a proper canteen and a clubhouse with sofas for waiting around, plus proper toilet facilites. All vital when you are waiting on the Irish weather.
I perhaps shouldn't mention other companies when reviewing but the difference between the two is by far the best compliment I can give Skydive.ie, they restored my faith in Irish Skydiving and I would heartily recommend them to anybody wanting to do a tandem skydive. Many thanks to everybody there, especially Pete for getting me safely to the ground!

We spent a fascinating time at Lullymore. I wondered what it would be like in late October but was very pleasantly surprised. We had a guided tour by a very helpful and knowledgeable young man. I was most interested in the early Christian Centre and thought the displays were well presented. Next we had a wander round the animal farm before going on the trip out to the peat bogs. What a fascinating place with a long history. We even had a go at cutting peat! The various Exhibitions have been so well done, I particularly liked the Neolithic Farmstead. Great for a day out. I'd love to see it at Halloween.

As a play park and great staff ...thoroughly recommend
For the animals I think is poor - some of the cages seem small...
I would go back

Walk from Edenderry town Harbour 1 mile to the Downshire Bridge, where you can turn left and walk 5 - 6 km to the Ticknevin Lock (Beautiful- with soft ground with views of the bog) if it's rainy turn left and walk the newly laid surface through 3-4 Bridges, third bridge is Rathmore and equally as nice .. Enjoy

Great location, quick swim and then a relaxing afternoon in the Sauna and Steam Room. Sauna is very large at least 8 people and Steam Room the same and is one of the best I have been in including those in the 4-5 star hotels, this steam rooms would beat those modular plastic types any day of the week .. Beautiful Red Mosiac tiling.. They also have an Ice Bath best used for recovery but as part of the Hot and Cold therapy you come out walking on air feeling fantastic. It's an experience ... On Sunday's there's an inflatable hour or two for the kiddies which is super fun. But check timetable on their Facebook page as sometimes the inflatable is on Saturdays too

We had to ring the bell and wait for a couple minutes, as everyone was upstairs. The staff were friendly, and happy to tell us about bogs and their preservation. We were even served free tea in the greenhouse, which we had all to ourselves. We just went as tourists, so we didn't get upstairs. We saw the downstairs exhibit, which was three rooms, one of them very large. There's a garden out back showing different habitats, and all kinds of plants that you can grow without having to deplete bogs by using peat. Afterward, we were given a map and told how to visit two bog sites: one with butterflies (didn't see any, but it was October), and the other with a boardwalk. You can park just off the road and walk around. We again had both sites to ourselves, which was great for getting the feel of a natural bog. It's great that people in Ireland care so much about preserving a type of habitat that has been largely lost in the rest of Europe.
