State Historic Site. Education. Events. Tours. Venue Rental. Membership. Community Center. All at the heart of Dickson. The Clement Railroad Hotel Museum's museum is to explore and celebrate the innovative leadership and values that have shaped the community, and to provide educational opportunities which connect the past to the present and enhance the quality of life. The Hotel Halbrook, the home of the CRHM, was constructed in 1913 and is one of the few remaining examples of a railroad hotel in a small Tennessee town. It functioned as a working man's hotel until 1954.
Lived in and around dickson for years, but I never visited here until recently when I had to take my daughter to her music class held inside. While waiting we walked around and looked at the displays, and I was honestly surprised how interesting it was. There are a lot of things from the old days of travel such as wardrobe suitcases, train schedules, and other things. Upstairs is a large working model train set. Everyone should check it out at least once. It doesn't take long and is quite interesting.

Montgomery Bell State Park is located seven miles east of Dickson in Dickson County. The park was once the center of iron industry in Middle Tennessee. Montgomery Bell State Park is equipped with a conference center that can host up to 500 people. The onsite restaurant is open daily and available to cater events. Within the center, the inn offers 120 rooms and five suites. The park also has eight environmentally-friendly modern cabins available for rent. The park’s campground can accommodate 60 ft. campers on most electrical sites. The campground has on-site sewer at 40 sites and can accommodate small pop-up campers and large RVs. There are 94 campsites available at the park. There are many activities to try at the park. Most notably, are hiking, biking, golf and fishing. There are nearly 19 miles of trails throughout the park with one that follows the circumference of the park. The Par 72, 18-hole golf course is a local treasure. The clubhouse, with snack bar and pro shop, also has a furnished patio that can be reserved for events. There are three lakes within Montgomery Bell State Park for fishing and boating. Paddle boats, jon boats, canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the park.
Regarding the Inn, it was quite a disappointment. It's in disrepair (see photos), and if you like to swim, be forewarned, the pools are bad news: run down and grimy (including the beach, the outdoor pool, and the indoor pool). The food in the restaurant is blah at best. I wondered aloud to a staff member if perhaps funding had been cut for state parks but she said no—that in fact, they'd just bought new mattresses. The bed WAS good, but overall, the room was neither horrible nor pleasant. It felt dirty, like the housecleaning had been rushed. I usually find the best in all situations but it was difficult at this inn, especially seeing as how the rate is roughly $100 per night.

Small store that sells bulk items, base ingredients, spices, cheeses, and meats. All the stuff you need for gourmet cooking without the ridiculous pricing. Plus the kinds of canned jellies, honey, apple butter, picked foods, and deserts you come to expect at a Mennonite or Amish store.
