Lindarbakki is the last dwelled turf house in Iceland. When I discovered so, I remained enchanted and stayed opposite the house in admiration, studying the caption affixed at the entrance for tourists. Elísabet has been taking care of the house for forty years, after buying it with her husband, who unfortunately died in 1987, and she still lives here during the hottest months (mid-May to the end of August). According to the description, the inside of the house is about 30 squared meters, it’s heated by an old oil heater and is provided by a well, accessible from a cellar. I would like to say congratulations to this strong woman and to the people who still help her carrying on her vision.
