The Citadel

Reviewed By faustinol389 - Ingoldmells, United Kingdom

Standing upon the high medieval northern walls of the Citadella, the view is 360 degrees of magnificence. Outside the walls, a large stretch of rocky terrain, decorated with grand churches and cathedrals acting sentinel as the crystal sea lies dormant in the back ground. Within the walls, you can see the history unravel and feel at one with the many battles and hardships the Citadella has both withstood and crumbled to. A must see to anyone who desires to expand their historical knowledge and engage with fantastic views!

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Reviewed By profjoypc - Alnwick, United Kingdom

This important place of worship. The Cathedral of the Assumption is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gozo and is most definitely worth visiting as are all other aspects of the Cittadella where you will find it. The foundation stone of the present church was laid in 1697 and the complex history of religious activity on the site is well worth reading up on before you go - though adequate information is available for visitors including guided tours. The Cathedral is especially worth visiting at Easter and festa times, but if you are not able to be there for these special processions and occasions, it is worth entering at any time of the year.

Villa Rundle Garden

Reviewed By JoeTabone - Kercem, Malta

These gardens were designed and laid out around 1915 and named after the British governor of Malta General Leslie Rundle. Recently re-designed and embelished, these gardens offer a good place to relax in the heart of Victoria. One finds different trees notable the Norfolk pines and the diverse palms as well as other shrubs and flowers. There is even a small playground for children. Well worth spending some time relaxing there especially round the fountain and its wooden bridge!
