Tongyeong (Korean pronunciation: [tʰoŋ.jʌŋ]) is a coastal city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. In 2010, it had an area of 238.81 km and a population of 139,869 people. It is divided into 1 eup (town), 6 myeon (township) and 11 dong (neighborhood). Chungmu city and Tongyeong county were reunited in 1995, creating Tongyeong City as it is known today. It consists of Goseong Peninsula, Hansan Island, Mireuk Island and other islets. It was formerly known as Chungmu, after the posthumous name of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. The name Tongyeong means "command post" and is itself associated with Admiral Yi, as it refers to his principal base that was located on nearby Hansan Island.

The ropeway is touted as Korea's longest ropeway. It provides an easy way of getting up to Mireuksan, which offers stunning views of the bay, dotted with islands. Suitable for all ages. The view from the cable car is very nice.

Due to construction, I had to take a long way around, but it was worth it. The park, dedicated to the revered warrior Yi Sun-shin, is gorgeous. The rolling green hills that look out onto the sea is lovely. Come for the huge statue of Sun-shin and stay for the visitas. You can even scramble down and walk along a little stretch of rocky beach. I suggest going in the spring or fall. I went in August and nearly got heatstroke!

One of the world’s most thrilling adventure activities has arrived in Tongyeong! The Skyline Luge is a unique wheeled-gravity ride that provides riders full control over their descent on a purpose built 1.5km Luge track. The only attraction of its kind in South Korea, Skyline Luge offers a fun-filled outdoor experience that is suitable for riders of all ages and experience levels.
This Sky Luge is much better than others in their network countries. First, one chooses a helmet that fits you. And then takes a Skylift chair all the way uphill to the top ( starting point of Luge circuit). From there, you ride the Sky Luge downhill all the way to the bottom. One ticket gives you 3 rides. It was so much fun especially when the weather was chilly. As usual, your pictures will be taken by cameras along the circuit & they will try to sell you the photos. There is a souvenir shop at the finish area. Usually the queue is very long even on a weekday but we were lucky. Somehow, today there were hardly any people.

Found just right next to Dongpirang Mural Village. Every traditional market in Korea is a must to visit. Tongyeong traditional market has it's own famous delicacies and one of them is the 꿀빵 or the Honey bread. Don't forget to buy this when you are visiting this place.
