Ryde is an English seaside town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, with a population of 23,999 at the 2011 Census. It lies on the north-east coast. The town grew in size as a seaside resort after the villages of Upper Ryde and Lower Ryde were merged in the 19th century. The influence of this era is still strongly visible in the town's central and seafront architecture.

Haven Falconry houses 24 different species of birds, their total collection is over 55 birds. We also have a reptile and insect house, rabbits and guinea pigs and offer ferret walking and Fly a Hawk to add enjoyment of your visit! The Info Hub and Kite Kingdom is new for 2018! We specialise in personal private falconry experiences, outside events, educational establishments and we perform two flying displays a day at the Centre! Open daily throughout the year! Please note that Dogs are not permitted inside the Bird Of Prey centre, we do however allow Guide Dogs.
I treated my wife (and myself) to the "Owl Experience", It was brilliant, We got to fly and get really up close with 4 different owls, Chloe was our host & handler, assisted by Jodie, Chloe knows her stuff when it comes to birds of prey, and being a Northerner has a great sense of humour, Jodie was great with both us, and the birds and it's clear both enjoy what they do immensely, they're both a credit to the Falconry, welcoming & informative. We will be returning next time we're down that neck of the woods to try the other experiences, they're great value for a couple and you really do get to see them at their best, and will probably learn something new, questions are invited after every different type of bird.

Lovely walk around, free parking enjoyed feeding the pigs - great fun! Farm shop was also full of some great gifts or even things for lunch to take home. (Homegrown veg, local IOW produce, freshly baked foccacia). Would visit again and visit the tea garden on a sunny day.

Hovertravel provides the fastest Isle of Wight ferry service across the Solent and is the world's longest running and only commercial hovercraft operator in Europe. Our passenger ferry service takes you directly to the shore at Southsea or Ryde in just 10 minutes. Easy onward travel connections are available with our Hoverbus to Portsmouth, bus and train connections at Ryde.
Brilliant hover service and only a 10 minute journey to the island . The crossing was a bit choppy but we got there safe and sound , the return journey was smoother due to better weather conditions.

Living on the Island we have always gone to the Cineworld complex and indeed have the monthly pass. We visited Ryde Cinema as Cineworld was closed and so glad we did. OK it’s dated, the screens are not the most modern and some of the seats take me back to my childhood BUT what great value at £4, friendly staff and reasonably priced snacks and drinks, £1.50 for a large good quality coffee is impressive. We have been 4 times in a week prior to lockdown and glad we did and supporting a local amenity. Will go again when things reopen and who knows we may cancel our passes for the other cinema.

I live just five minutes' walk from this lovely beach and like to visit it at least once a week. When friends and family visit, I always take them along the beach. The children like to walk on the clean sand, you can collect shells, watch the seabirds, and if you are lucky you might see the hovercraft. At low tide you can walk for miles. There are several cafes and shops along the beach, and public toilets nearby. There is always something to see when you visit Ryde beach, whatever the weather.

The Rosemary Vineyard shop is now open 7 days a week . In line with the government roadmap ,and social distancing rules, we are not doing any talks or tours at the present time but hope to be able to restart these as soon as the rules allow us to . Visitors will be very welcome in the shop and can enjoy walking outside in the Vineyard . The Vineleaf Cafe is also open daily, with outside seating only , and with a limited range of light snacks and drinks. We expect the Cafe to be able to offer indoor seating from 17th May. We will continue to follow the government,s Covid 19 safety guidelines and are sure that our visitors will understand and comply with the rules. We look forward to seeing you.
Just drinking the Vineyard's Sparkling Brut purchased on our recent visit to the IOW. A really nice wine. Refreshing, fruity and very bubbly. An excellent buy.

Lakeside Park Hotel Spa - We recently just returned from a 5 day mini holiday on the isle of wight. This hotel is unlike anything I have really been to before. I travel across the country I have stayed in thousands of hotels all over the world, I did feel this was a litlte bit special. Lets start with the room, they were modern, clean, tiny, almost completely spotless. They have air conditioning, the bed is super comfortable, the room is bright (curtains open) with some funky bedside lights at night. It was both spacious and there was a plug at the side of the bed which was nice. As the name suggests the hotel is situated by a lake. Its a beautiful spot actually, I will upload some pictures so you can see for yourself. The hotel was a restaurant whch backs onto the lake. It has space to eat both inside and outside. The restaurent's service seems to vary a fair bit. I do not want to go into details it was nothing major but there was at least one member of staff there wh clealry shouldn't be working at a 4 star hotel. The hotel's prices are quest reasonable. A 3 course meal will set you back around £30 assuming you buy at least 1 drink. Soft drinks are around £2.50. They don't do cocktails which is a shame. Their afternoon tea is both fantastic and good value for money. Breakfast was tasty although the portions were far too small with 1 single mushroom being the highlight to our single sausage 2 hash brown’s meal which seemed to vary a lot. Sometimes we got 2 hashbrowns, other times we got 1, not a massive issue but things seems to vary a lot. Breakfast isn't cheap so it should really be reflected in the price. The hotel is air conditioned, I have a medical condition which means I cannot stay in any environment whch is considered even slightly hot for very long. I was really impressed with the hotel staff, who informed all the house keeping staff whom in turn switched the air con on before arrival. They also understood the need to keep windows closed and things like computers off which create hot. VERY impressive for a hotel (house keeping) to understand that kind of thng. The hotels food is extremely tasty. I found reception to be exceptional in every way. Every member of staff in the spa, reception and housekeeping area were polite, knowledgeable and professional at all times. Housekeeping brought as many tea's, milks, hot choc, biscuits and so on that we could ever need. We loved the grounds, the pool and the spa. They have a standard (shallow) pool, a whirlpool jet type pool thing , sauna and Jacuzzi. You can sunbathe in a dedicated area outside. I thought the tea type room by the spa was stunning. the decor was fantastic in fact I wish my flat looked like that. I loved the LED lights and strange ornaments you just seem to come across on your wonder around. The wireless isn’t bad but had peal / off peak speeds and its noticeable in the evenings at times. It has good coverage of the entire hotel accept the spa area which does not allow mobile devices which is a shame. They have 2 sauna’s neither of which I used myself. This hotel is the only hotel I can truly recommend if you are visiting the isle of Wight. I really struggle to nit pick. The hotel is nop notch and the worst I can come out with is the tiny scratch on the table in the restaurant. Please consider this place when choosing somewhere to stay on the IOW esp if you want air con!!!
