Reading, which gave its name to the Reading Railroad of Monopoly Fame, is located in the midst of Berks County, an area known for rich history amongst beautiful nature. The Greater Reading Area promises visitors the opportunity to experience a wide collection of covered bridges and Dutch folk barn art, and Berks County offers more intrepid explorers the chance to set off on a hike along the Appalachian Trail. Sitting atop Reading is the city's symbol, a massive pagoda, built as a hotel in 1908.

Art, history, science, and culture all under one roof in Reading, Pa.
Went there to see the Nickolas Muray photographs of Frida Kahlo. Excellent exhibit. A wonderful traveling children’s exhibit from Omaha was there. Surprisingly, we really enjoyed the stuffed animals from around the world that were there. On the top level was another traveling exhibit of 1920s posters by Muncha. There is a balanced permanent exhibit of 20th century art.

The Fightin Phils are well known for creating a festive, fan-friendly atmosphere from the time the gates open until the bottom of the ninth inning. Whilst staying in the area myself and my partner (both English) decided to go and watch the Reading Royals play ice hockey to fill an evening. Even though we had very little (no) knowledge of ice hockey we had a great evening. The atmosphere was great and it was a really well organised event, i would defiintely go again!

Great produce & delicious restaurants within the market. Enjoy walking around & purchasing fresh meats, desserts, soups & vegetables. Many of the venders have been part of this market for decades.

Oh what a night! We decided to explore one of the highly visible landmarks of the greater Reading area and couldn’t stop taking photos as the sun was setting... We were transported. Hard to believe we were in Pennsylvania... felt and looked like from another day and age. Medieval times? Italy? France? At the Great Wall of China? Even the obvious Japan... Note, visitors may not enter the building at this time but you can walk around the building on two levels.

We were able to attend the Rock of Ages show at the Santander Performing Arts Center. What a great show to see, the Arts Center had adequate seating where you can watch the show from anywhere and see clearly. The sound was great, but if you were close to the stage it may have been loud for some people. They do offer a dinner before the show but we chose not to have. There is a bar for drinks and it was nice at intermission to have an adult beverage. Great experience.

Every time we (railfans) are in the area of Port Clinton PA, we stop in at the Blue Mountain and Reading site. Beautiful building, some visitor parking, and often some power moving around. This sunny January morning was no exception.
