Dave from Shore Pedal and Paddle was awesome. It was easy to text with him to arrange our SUP. He drove the paddle boards down to the water 1 block and helped us carry and launch them. He provided good recommendations and warnings about the wind! We had so much fun SUPing, we came back the next day and rented bikes. The equipment and service was great! Highly recommend!

Lyon Rum Distillery

LYON RUM Distillery is a micro distillery located in Saint Michaels, Maryland, steps from the Chesapeake Bay. Founded in 2012, the distillery launched with a signature line of rums paying tribute to the rich, spirited traditions of the Eastern Shore. Hand-crafted from start to finish, LYON RUM begins as intentionally-sourced raw ingredients, and are hand-crafted – mashed, fermented, and double-distilled in small pot stills – every step of the way, resulting in a superior and unique final product. The goal is to create distinct spirits – working to define the category of new American rum. The distillery is also home to Gray Wolf Craft Spirits, a boutique operation offering grain-to-glass spirits.

The barista was very knowledgeable and "walked" us through the various selections offered by Lyon's Distellery. We had fun tasting the many varieties, and purchased several.

Good wine with good friends. Loved it! Quite the selection for such a small facility, and all of it was very, very good. They have small bottles for purchase, which I goobled up so I could try them all again at home. Very much worth the stop!

Learned a great deal about how the English settlers treated the Native Americans (who taught them about oysters and crabbing); the two black resorts built in the Jim Crow era; the story about the yacht Isabel (was in a different slip than advertised - near the reconstruction shed) which was donated to the museum along with large funding grants to build the museum building; how life was like on a screw-pile lighthouse remotely placed in the bay. Got an entrance fee discount by having a Blue Heron coffee cup. May also apply to other local businesses.

Due to the Covid pandemic sadly enough the museum is temporarily closed to visitors; However, the thoughtful staff has provided everything needed for a sufficient self-guided walking tour. We took the tour and found it to be a wonderful and very informative experience. We will definitely visit if and when life returns back to normal and participate in the live tour version to learn a little more and be able to ask a few questions.
