This 115-foot-tall, early-18th-century structure is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Impressive structure in the center of the city's main square. The plague pillar was built as a sign of gratitude to the inhabitants of the city for getting rid of the plague. There are many such pillars throughout Europe, but this is one of the most impressive and beautiful.

I am local patriot, …. but if I can spread the experiencies of my friends from other part of Czechia or Europe or the rest of world, that is one of the best and pleasant suprise of their visit of Olomouc. It is a perfect combination of medieval architecture, with modern reconstruction, collection of religious artefacts, awesome golden archiepiscopal coach, contemporary exhition etc. etc. It is on the same place as St. Wencel Cathedral and Roman Bishop Palais.

A beautifully restored building right in the centre of the Square. It houses an excellent information centre. The people there don’t speak much English but are very helpful and leaflets and brochures are plentiful.

The Church of St. Wenceslas in Olomouc has a long and rich history, similar to the Church of St. Vitus in Prague. The Prague Church as a rotunda was founded in the first half of the 10th century, the church in Olomouc is less than 200 years younger. Now both of these churches appear to be magnificent cathedrals.

Deceptively large, this zoo was a fantastic day out! There are a number of modern developments on site, a great range of animals and some fun activities such as riding the safari train or climbing the observation tower. There is plenty to see and do. The highlight for me was the gorgeous sun bear Bara, who I greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to hand feed. The black bear family is also really gorgeous, there is an impressive collection of small cats, I enjoyed the carnivore house and the collection of South American animals is also notable. Truly a really memorable zoo.
