Husky Tours Lapland

Come enjoy the ride of your life with us!! Dog sled trips near kiruna all year around! We offer daily husky sledding trips. During the winter we have morning, and evening trips where you sit on the sled and a trip during the afternoon where you can drive your own team of dogs or share a sled. We are the only company that gives guests the opportunity to drive their own team of dogs in summer, autumn and winter time! Guests drive their own cart when there is no snow and a sled during the winter time. We offer trips from sitting on the sled driven by the guide to sit and drive combo tours and guest driving themselves! Best of all, we are located away from all the other kennels guaranteeing you will NOT pass other teams of dogs and large groups of snowmobile traffic! Just you, the dogs and nature!

Storforsen

Very nice rapids in Pite river. There is a boardwalk along parts of it so you get good views. Now in the winter the water has sub-zero temperature and this makes the ice being built up from below. This can cause floods and recently there was a threat to the hotel at the bottom of the rapids.

I should start off by saying that I’m usually terrible when it comes to remembering to write reviews but this was a truly exceptional experience. A friend and I booked the 4 night Christmas package back in May and from the start the communication and assistance from Lights over Lapland was perfect. They even assisted in finding bus schedules for our trip to Tromso after our time in Abisko was completed. I was somewhat hesitant about a multi day tour as I usually self tour or do day trips with different companies. The package we booked provides with you camera, tripod, snowsuits, all meals and a photo tour to a different location every night, as well as a wilderness hike and a visit to the ice hotel with the option to book a third daytime for additional cost. Our experience was flawless from start to finish. Pickup at the airport was on time, a friendly greeting from our guide Rob upon arrival with our itinerary to confirm everything is correct. We stayed at the Abisko mountain lodge which was really lovely. Our guide did mention groups do not always stay at this lodge but if you have the opportunity you won’t be disappointed. The sitting area in the lobby is very cozy and I really wish I had the opportunity to just sit and enjoy it more besides a game of chess a friend I played. The rooms are small and not luxurious but the beds are very comfortable. The food was outstanding. Nice spread for breakfast, soup lunches, and the dinners were incredible three course meals. Only negatives were lobby and sitting area closes at 10 which I felt was a bit early since we were meeting new people and would have enjoyed a common area to socialize. Also the sauna is only open to 4-7 which I feel should be open all day. Now on to the real reason for this review. Abisko is stunning and I appreciate almost everywhere I go but our guide Rob brought this trip to another level. He seems as if he was born to do this. With this package our group has dinner together every night which is not something I’d always be up for but we did have a really nice group. This was only enhanced by Rob’s presence. He’s a natural at making everyone feel comfortable and getting everyone involved without being pushy. We had so many laughs as a group during this trip and talked and learned so much during our time together. So most people heading up this way or booking this kind of trip are chasing the northern lights just like I was. This photo tour is definitely the way to go. I travel pretty often and love getting frat photos but have always just used my iPhone and don’t know much about photography. Our first night when we were given our cameras there was quick lesson about operating and focusing them. Rob made it seem simple and easy and once we got out there is attentive and answers any questions you might have. I will say that I find I was having fun just being out there taking photos whether or not there was anything to see and this might not be the case for everyone. This experience has inspired me to buy a camera and continue with this hobby. Rob was happy to give my friend and I advice and referrals on where to get started. Our first night we did not see any lights but did have a beautiful snow and Rob made us hot Lingonberry tea, which I’m now addicted to, in the Teepee. One of the important important things to note is that you can’t always see the lights with the naked eye so this photo tour can really improve your experience. We were able to see the lights the next two nights and sort of that is attributed to the effort by Rob and this company. We drove to Norway one night because the conditions were poor in Abisko and were able to see the lights through our photos. Rob also surprised us all by starting a fire and making us s’mores while we were out there, Again making this experience unforgettable. The last night is hard to describe with how magical it was. We could already see a steak in the sky when we got out there and through photos the activity was very strong. It only got better from there. We got to see a show with our own eyes that was like nothing I’ve ever seen. One of the couples on our trip also got engaged under the lights and it turns out Rob knew all about it and was waiting all week for the moment and was ready to give them an amazing photo to remember it. It was truly a night to remember and a trip we didn’t want to end. We are so grateful to have spent Christmas with Rob and this group. If you’re not sold on my endorsement just yet just know Rob guides elsewhere in Sweden in the summer and I’m looking into doing a trip there as well. Thanks to Rob and Lights over Lapland for a very special holiday

Anyone can come to the ice bar. Each glass is individually drilled and takes half an hour to make and they make 500,000 of them for each season. Good cocktails and wine list. Great music. Excellent vibe. Rug up and wear gloves.
