Barcelona feels a bit surreal – appropriate, since Salvador Dali spent time here and Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí designed several of the city’s buildings. Stepping into Gaudí’s Church of the Sacred Family is a bit like falling through the looking glass - a journey that you can continue with a visit to Park Güell. Sip sangria at a sidewalk café in Las Ramblas while watching flamboyant street performers, then create your own moveable feast by floating from tapas bar to tapas bar.

The European Museum of Modern Art , MEAM, exhibits the finest Contemporary Figurative Art. It is owned by TheFoundation of Arts and Artists, and the purpose is to promote and diffuse Figurative Art of the 20th and 21st Centuries. The Foundation’s claim is to find a new contemporary language without denying tradition by progressing into the new Century. Moreover, the Foundation of Arts and Artists, organizes each year the Figurativas Painting and Sculpture Awards, and with the wesbiteFigurativas en Red opens a window with the artworks of the Contemporary Figurative artists. The MEAM is currentlly located at the Gomis Palace, in the middle of the streets of the Born in Barcelona, a neighborhood where culture is always present and reflects the charm of the old part of the city, an area that knew how to mix tradition and modernity, becoming a requiered visit for the tourits interested in the Monumental Barcelona. The MEAM is different from other Contemporary Art museums because it houses living artists who created Figurative Art. These artworks are hardly seen in other museums, collections or entities, to whom the word Contemporary is identified by experiment and abstraction.
Attended a blues music concert in Barcelona - absolutely brilliant night of music in a lovely location. The museum entrance is set in a beautiful old street in the old town. Also surrounded by many bars and restaurants. The concert lasted around 90mins with a short interval. Excellent soul and blues classics sung by a superb singer and band. Highly recommended. We did this as an alternative to the guitar concerts we usually attend at this time of year and didn’t regret it. A must see for any visit let to Barca. The ticket price also includes a visit to the museum. Excellent value all round. After we visited a local tapas restaurant in Born - review to follow!!!

The Museum of World Cultures of Barcelona invites you to take a journey through the art of diverse cultures from Africa, Asia, America and Oceania. This selection of rich and expressive works helps to understand and interpret reality through the viewpoint of other cultures.
What a gem of a museum! Just across the street from the small and overrated Picasso museum, this place has an amazing collection that takes you on a wonderful journey through the world's cultures and ethnicities. Beautiful scenography, and great information pannels in Spanish, Catalan and English. Not to be missed!!!

The birth of Fundació Gaspar could not be understood without the legacy of the Gaspar family. "The Gaspar" have been involved in the promotion of contemporary art in Barcelona for over 100 years, mainly with the legendary Sala Gaspar, where artists such as Picasso, Miró, Braque, Calder or Tàpies, among many others exhibited. In the foundation we understand contemporary art as a large map with many nuances and subtleties. We want to introduce creators with different approaches, speeches and sensitivities, who can show the richness of the international scene. We intend to bring relevant contemporary artists who have not previously exhibited in the city or have not done so on a regular basis, thus extending the work by other institutions. In Fundació Gaspar we want to provide the city a new space where each visit can turn into an experience.

My wife and I were walking through Barceloneta on our way to Parc de la Ciutadella when she quickly spotted several antique cars on display in a building. It turns out we were on the back-end of Retro Auto Moto Museo, which didn't pop up in any of our Barcelona research. We easily found the front entrance to the museum and spent over an hour looking at the well over 100 cars and motorcycles. They were all in very good (not pristine) shape and their origins spanned a wide variety of countries, including the former GDR and Soviet Union. The irony is that there wasn't a single car or motorcycle of Spanish manufacture. As we walked through the museum, I thanked my wife profusely for her observant eye, as she knows my passion for antique cars and bikes. And I'm still thanking her as I write this review.

Museum visitors learn about history of chocolate: its symbolic, cultural and economic significance and nutritional value. Children will enjoy numerous chocolate statues.
Great place to spend an hour learning about the history of chocolate in the old world and how it started primarily as a drink and morphed into a solid treat many years later. Small cafe at the end plus many chocolates for sale that are made on site. Your tickets are actually small bars so you can eat the evidence at the end! Cheers!
