A few years ago a number of Vets and local businesses went together to develop this Memorial. It is great tribute to the local veterans and or all who visit. They honor Vets with a brick denoting there service. Worth the visit.

If you are a frequent traveler and have driven from coast to coast and from sea to shining sea, you probably have kept track of the good rest stops and the not-so-good rest stops. Well, you've never experienced a rest area like the Carousel Rest Area in Shelby, Montana. Located at 441 11th Avenue North, south of the Pizza Hunt and behind Champion's Park off US Highway 2, it is the fulfillment of a dream of 85-year-old retired farmer Harry Benjamin. He invested $85,000 of his own money into restoring a 1936 Allen Herschell Carousel or merry-go-round, added some additional attractions (plasma cars, helicopter peddle ride) and Wilcoxen's ice cream with 10 flavors and opened the Carousel Rest Area of Shelby. The main attraction features 16 horses, two giraffes, two roosters and a monkey that spin around an antique merry-go-round. It is highlighted by 900 lights. Aside from travelers, Benjamin also invites birthday parties, class reunions, graduation celebrations, family gatherings and even wedding receptions to his fun house. The rest rooms are open 24 hours a day. In the summer, the carousel is open from 10 to 8 Monday through Saturday. In the winter, it is open only from 12 to 8 on Saturday or by appointment. The Carousel staged its grand opening on May 19, 2018, so the fun is just beginning.
