We enjoyed our visit to the train depot. Outside there is a covered viewing platform just 50 feet from the multiple track lines. We ordered a picnic lunch from a local restaurant and saw 3 trains during the hour we watched. Each train had over 100 cars! The Bandy Heritage Center located inside the depot was a delightful surprise, showing how the chenille bedspread led to Dalton's carpet industry. There are nice restrooms inside the depot. We will visit again.

You can see for miles up on the side of the mountain. I imagine they could see what the yankee army was up to for a good while coming. I know I needed to sit and catch my breath once I reached the site. It’s a steep hike so wear some sturdy shoes or boots. Interesting story glad to visit the site again
