Amhara (Amharic: አማራ) is one of the nine ethnic divisions (kililoch) of Ethiopia, containing the homeland of the Amhara people. Previously known as Region 3, its capital is Bahir Dar. Ethiopia's largest inland body of water, Lake Tana, which is the source of the Blue Nile river, is located within Amhara. The region also contains the Semien Mountains National Park, which includes Ras Dashan, the highest point in Ethiopia. Amhara is bordered by the state of Sudan to the west and northwest, and in other directions by other regions of Ethiopia: Tigray to the north, Afar to the east, Benishangul-Gumuz to the west and southwest, and Oromia to the south.

visit to the peaceful waters of Lake Tana is truly memorable experience for visitors from near and far. The first view will take your breath away: a vast expanse of water stretching as far as the horizon to form Ethiopia’s largest lake. The “Smoking Water” falls of the Blue Nile are one of the most spectacular sights on the whole of the Nile system. The Blue Nile leaves Lake Tana and travels for around 30 km through papyrus thickets and fields before plunging over a sheer chasm, cascading 45 meters and thundering onto the bare rocks below.

expat in Addis , My family and I had a fantastic experience with EthioTours . Had a fantastic morning tour on lake Tana . Beautiful sunrise and a fantastic breakfast. The guide was really knowledgeable about all the animals we saw and explained about the fishermen and what they were doing. Saw plenty of hippos too! It was an amazing experience, we visited three beautiful islands . We would like to thank Melese for showing us all unique areas and sharing the stories . Private tour was absolute best way to relax and see the beauty of the lake. Highly recommended !

●Our English tour guide was Maereg Tefere, a humble person with immense knowledge of churches and its history. He’s very friendly and caring all the time. We were 5 people visiting the churches in Lalibela and he was just walking us and simply explaining the background, the differences between churches, the Orthodox practices, the activities there… Sometime we couldn’t completely understand probably because he’s telling story quite fast. But we were able to ask any question and we enjoyed his company. ●The churches stood there for almost one thousand years which were built (carved/dug) in well-scaled plan in a short period of time. When we actually saw them with our own eyes, it was just unbelievable! ●Afterwards Maereg helped us buying local piece of fabrics for covering our heads at Misa the next day and we discussed about the culture, economy and the current society, everything. That day was great. ●The churches tour is highly recommended. (If you’re not religious, you would still feel speechless as knowing story behind while seeing it!) Also thanks to Maereg.

The times we live in are changing spiritually, professionally, and technologically. Some of these changes are amazing, incredible, and astonishing; while some of these shifts are dark, uneasy, and nature threatening. We must come together while we can, and network together to build a better life experience for our future generations,. This event is a great chance to connect with each other and the Earth no matter what your background may be. Lets align with the Kalki Consciousness that began in 2012.
