We have visited 3 Balkan countries, and Ohrid was one of the highlights of our trip. Its much more prettier than on the photos, and wster is perfectly clear. Tour did meet our expectations, and to daul away without the guide it would be pretty but much less interesting. Our guide bob was easy going polite and interesting and he made our day. Hope to come back here with my family and stay longer, and for sure i will contact Balkan experience again.. They are very professional.
The town is known as the birthplace of the famous Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. Your first stop will be the skull tower (Chele Tower). It is a stone structure embedded with human skulls located in Nis, Serbia. It was constructed by the Ottomans following the Battle of Cegar of May 1809, during the First Serbian Uprising. The next stop is the former concentration camp. It was opened in 1941 during the World War II and used to hold captured communists and Jews. More than 10,000 people are thought to have been killed at the camp. Now it is opened as a museum. The final stop will be at the city museum in Nis where are placed all archeological findings in the area and where is kept the history of the town. After the guided tour around all the monuments, you are going to take a walk pass the central pedestrian street, where you can find different type of local shops and delicious food. With three Roman emperors born here, Niš won its nickname as the Emperor s City. This metropolis is like no other: you can stumble upon gipsy carriages drawn by horses while new and fancy cars slalom through the narrow streets, you can listen to traditional live music in a laneway bar while close by there is a hip music concert, you can admire a tower of human skulls or you can go for some quality shopping. Niš is a little bit of everything. Join our private walking tour and see some of the main attractions this city has to offer: the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the first places of warship built after the serbians won their independence in the 19th century, the Skull Tower and its terrible story of how the Ottomans punished the local rebels, as well as the Fortress with its collection of tombstones, the Turkish hamam, the mosque, the Roman ruins and many more.

I love a good walking tour! It's the first thing I like to do when arriving to town since it gets you oriented to the major history and then gives you ideas of stuff to see.. We packed so much into the tour. The Square, government buildings, sculpture, orthodox church and mosque - wow so cool, and lots of other little things we eyed up to go back and enjoy.. Rate this one an "A"!
