You should visit Bleik and if the weather is nice, stay, have a picnic, and maybe even go for a swim if you are the tough type!

Humpback whales, Orca's, Spermwhales and Finnwhales are frequently close to Andenes. We went there to visit the Spermwhales in a RIB. We were so exited because of the boattrip as the whales aswell. After a 30 minute boattrip the captain found the whales and we went to them. And it was so special to see these big friendly animals in real life. There was a group of 5 Spermwhales and one of them was so curious about the boat that he came to us. We really had the chance to see the Spermwhales very well and we made great pictures! Close to the harbour we visited a group of seals who where resting on a little island. Although not as impressive as the whales they where very cute (and much bigger then I thought) We were in Andenes in March and we will come back in januari when the Humpbackwhales and the Orca's are back!!!
We were able to see sperm whales (experienced three dives, and was able to take a great picture of the tail) and killer whales/ocras several times during our trip. We felt safe all the time and were served soup, coffe and tea afterwards. The temperature was +3oC, and I wore two layers of wool on my lower body and four layers on my upper body. Remember to bring mittens and a hat.

The Stave – Bleik coastal trail in Andoy is one of the Coastal Trails in Vesteralen. This is a trip with varying degrees of difficulty, but it is never so difficult that hikers in normal physical condition are unable to complete the route. The trail stretches over a distance of 9 km through a landscape of beaches, rocky shorelines, hills and mountains. The highest point is Matind (408 masl), offering a fantastic view out towards picturesque Bleiksoya. The trip from Stave to Bleik, including a detour to Matinden, takes 5-6 hrs. It is most common, however, to get on the trail at midpoint from the roadway and do half the route, hiking either north towards Bleik or south towards Stave. You do this, of course, after having climbed to the peak of Matind. Description of the route: The starting point is the car park at Baugtua, Stavedalen, 4 km from Bleik in the direction of Stave. From the car park, hike west through forest grove up to height 340 m. Continue over the ridge between Staveheia and Breidalen. Here you will pass by five hunting pits dating from the Stone Age. From the junction due south of Nonstind (379 m) you have several possibilities. You can continue west towards Matind, you can head south towards Hoyvika and Stave, or you can go north towards Bleik and the Bleik Beach. Whatever your choice, you will enjoy a light trek with a fantastic view in an area where the steep Vesteralen mountainsides plunge directly down into the ocean below. At the starting point at Baugtua there are information boards with a map and an overview of sights. The trail is marked with Ts. The trail is a sheep trail with sections of rocky ground and is not always clear to the eye in these sections the trail is marked with cairns. The trail is also indistinct along the shoreline, but the direction is obvious. The hiking terrain is varied, from mountain rock to moors and grassland. Along the entire coastal trail you will encounter cultural monuments that bear witness to human settlement as far back as the Stone Age. From Matind there is a good panorama out towards Bleiksoya, which has one of Vesteralen's largest colonies of puffins. Shags, kittiwakes and guillemots also nest here. Remember to bring along your binoculars! Overnight accommodation: You can spend the night at Bleik, Andenes or at Stave Camping in cottages, rorbu cabins, hotels or tents. You can also bring along your own tent if you prefer. Remember to review the Outdoor Recreation Act. Special equipment You need no other equipment than normal hiking gear. It is recommended to have good footwear since the route runs through varied terrain. How does one get to the rally point? Follow Road 82 towards Andenes. Turn off towards Bleik at the intersection just before entering Andenes. From Bleik you can follow county road 976 towards Stave approx. 4 km to the car park at Baugtua.

With our 22 Alaskan Huskies we operate a Huskyfarm since 2013 and offer a lot of activities for visitors. Primarily our life is focused on our dogs, because we need them to provide our incredible sledding tours in the winter with the sled and in the summer with our cart. Besides that we love to show you our farm where you can also cuddle the dogs. We also provide equipment for outdooractivities like camping or climbing. You can also rent our guesthouse on our homepage. Generally we are focused on our visitors and we try to implement every of their wishes. Also hiking with the dogs in summer is very popular. We would be pleasured if you contact us.
Beautiful farm with adorable great dogs. And what a landscape! Great crew who can really explain everything to you. They go out of their way to take care of the dogs. And the dogs live in small packs in kennels and not on chains. I've seen chaining so often in Norway.

The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) has given us the following commendation: The world's largest, most successful Arctic whale watching operation is Hvalsafari AS in Andenes. Why Whalesafari from Andenes? We have a natural advantage in Andenes since the edge of the continental shelf is closer to land than anywhere else along the coast of Norway. In the bay that constitutes this part of the shelf, a stable stock of sperm whales feeds and thus forms the basis of whale watching tours in the region of Vesteralen. It is only a one hour voyage from Andenes to the whale feeding grounds. A normal trip lasts about 2 to 4 hours (the duration depend on the distance where the whales are that day and how long it takes to find the first one). The product educational activities form the nucleus of whale safari tours in Andenes. Right from the start, our whale safaris have involved research, learning and adventure joined together in one single, integrated unit. The idea has attracted considerable attention both in Andenes and abroad. Guarantee - The great sperm whales are found in a specially nutrient-rich area northwest of Andenes. There are no other places in Norway where the edge of the continental shelf lies so close to the shore as it does near Andenes. Experience shows that whales are spotted during 99 percent of the safaris. Our guarantee: we´ll give you a free new trip if the boat does not find any cetacean the first time, or your money back (minus admin expenses). Scientists and Guides: the guides at the Whale Centre and on board our vessels are scientists and students from many different countries. In such a way, every excursion feels like a research project.
