You need to take the Akechidaira Ropeway to go up to the Observation area which gives a very panoramic view of the Nikko region. There are hiking trails that also go up to the Observation area, but that's a pretty tough climb. Looking east, you can look back towards the World Heritage area and looking west, you can see Lake Chuzenji and the Kegon Falls. You also see the mountains that surround the valley and have a real communion with nature and can breath in some really fresh air and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by harmony and sense of being small in this big universe. Worth visiting when in Nikko.
