Highway 17 (Trans Canada) winds right through the heart of this spectacular Provincial Park - made even more spectacular by the changing colours of Fall. Well maintained, as were all the Provincial Parks we visited, with endless options for hiking, water sports and just filling in forests. The washrooms throughout the Provincial Park system in this area were well looked after. Our favourite beach was Old Woman River Bay although there were a lot to choose from. Day rates were very affordable- even more so if you were a senior.

Hard to believe that with such a rugged and rocky shoreline that's typically associated with Lake Superior, that you can find such a large sandy beach with high quality sand! You can walk for over a mile from the rocky face at the north end to the private cottage area to the south. If you can stand the cool water temperature it's even a great place for a swim!

Yes, you can access this park and its beautiful beach if you stick to the correct road and trail, all of which are located on public (Crown) land. Stop in at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office in Wawa and they can direct you how to get to the Park. The Ministry will likely recommend that you walk in from the Highway, so it is a good hike in, but it is worth the walk when you arrive at the beach. I will attempt to construct a map indicating the way to walk in and post it here later.

Beautiful waterfall and nice hiking trail but long and a little tricky. It was easy to find parking area and there is also a trail below the falls from the bottom up if you go around by the marina.
