8 Nature & Parks in Midtown That You Shouldn't Miss

November 4, 2021 Renato Branum

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

Bryant Park

Bryant Park has a French-style merry-go-round, open year-round, plus a well-maintained lawn, with chairs and tables. The outdoor Reading Room has picture books and summertime story times. In winter. Take a spin on the free ice-skating rink. The park also has clean bathrooms, a rarity in midtown.

Bryant Park

We were lucky to visit NY one week before the Coronavirus hit America, and during our 9-day stay we daily spent some time at Bryant Park, either to enjoy the great free-wifi available here, or to sit at one of the many tables spread around the park to enjoy a coffee bought nearby. There are stalls selling baked goods, waffles and coffee, so if you are hungry you have decent options. When we visited there was still an ice ring, so we had fun watching at people ice-skating, and in the evening looked at the empire state building being lit in different colors. There are also well-taken care of toilets, which is not that common in the city. Overall a wonderful park, loved by both locals and tourists.

Channel Gardens

The Rockefeller Center’s Channel Gardens is a beautiful and serene oasis nestled in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. In December of 2020, I brought my wife and myself to the Channel Gardens to celebrate our Happy Four Year Engagement Anniversary. When visiting this attraction, my wife and I were deeply impressed by the high quality landscaped gardens, the picturesque sculptures, and the alluring water fountains located in the series of subsequent pools. When visiting the Rockefeller Center, both my wife and I highly recommend for visitors to check and sightsee this enchanting attraction!!!
