South Carolina has some great beaches along its eastern coast. Among the most notable of these is Myrtle Beach, the hub of the grand strand and the largest resort on the east coast of South Carolina. This silky stretch of white sand is great for water-sports such as sailing and surfing. South Carolina is also regarded as one of the top golfing destinations in America. South Carolina has some notable historic towns which are worth visiting such as Charleston.

One of the few remaining old growth floodplains in the country; home to otters, bobcats and wild boar.
The boardwalk trail at The Congaree National Park was a great option for our family. My daughter has special needs and I’m always worried about her slipping when we are hiking. This trail is elevated with a relatively smooth path and rails gave me peace of mind for my daughter. Would be great for families with small children and the elderly. It’s about a 2.4 mile loop with plenty to see along the way. There is also a nice gift shop at the entrance of the trail complete with souvenirs, maps and bug spray. Also exterior bathrooms and a water fountain if you are out after the gift shop closes. FYI - there are lots of bugs in the summer and it is incredibly hot and humid under the canopy of the trees. Lots of shade but not much of a breeze gets down through those trees. Make sure you bring plenty of water!

Decided to visit since it is local to us. Not too far off the beaten path but worth it. Free admission and a nice visitor center. Definately gives you a well rounded explanation of the day and the events. Never realized how much the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War meant. Pleasent driving route with an app you can download for details on each stop. Picnic area that is well maintained and clean. Quite the interesting stop if you are near by.

This National Historic Site is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Important historically but now as well known as it should be, it is well worth the time to go see the Park. The visitor center is excellent and the on site ranger was exceptional! He was tremendously knowledgeable. The Battle loop trail is interesting and a worthwhile walk to see where Americans (on both sides!) fought. NOTE: there are warning signs advising that the loop is strenuous...take heed! Take the time and visit this great park!

My wife wanted to take me somewhere different as we commemorated my 50th birthday. I didn’t expect to be going to the Ninety Six National Historic Site, but I am glad we did! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful but have a history that was the antithesis of beauty and peace. This is the site of two battles during the Revolutionary War, and both battles being lost by the Patriots. The loss of the final battle you can attribute to the Star Fort. It’s design was genius and effective. The eight point design of the earthen structure was unique and formidable. The earthen mounds of the structure remain, a silent green testament to man’s ingenuity. The original town of 96 no longer exists but you can walk on the site and learn of a history that should not be forgotten. Definitely pay this place a visit if you are into history.

We have never been here before and happen to find website while searching for a place to camp around Lake Hartwell. We have pop up trailer and normally stay at KOA to have good shower facilities. This park is beautiful. Big camp sites. You are not looking in your neighbors window. Bath facilities are great. Very well maintained. Great swim beach. Lots of lakefront and Lakeview sites. Definately coming back.

Part of the country estate of Charles Pinckney, drafter and signer of the Constitution, and a museum interpreting the lives and relationships of African-Americans with slave-owners.
This is a terrific, free, stop if you're in the area. Who knew that Charles Pinckney was so influential in shaping the U.S. Constitution. As at other excellent Visitor Centers, there is a short film to view, preferably, before you walk through the house. Pick up a "Trail Guide" and walk the grounds......beautiful and well maintained.

We walked over to the Square after leaving the aquarium. Full of history (info posted all over on its significance in history,) gorgeous little spot and close to many spots to visit (aquarium, water front and Fort Sumter boat boarding location.) We all enjoyed the little break here before heading back to our vehicle to leave.
