The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum is proud to serve as the military history museum for the state of Mississippi. The museum aims to educate the public about Mississippi’s role in military history, while honoring the service of both Mississippi veterans and those who have trained in Mississippi during times of war. Visit us today, located approximately 10 miles south of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.
I had no idea this museum existed but what a gem. Even though it was free, clearly there was plenty of money spent in the creation and curation of the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum. The presentation is top rated and compares favorably to famous institutions such the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. The fact that the museum is located on Camp Shelby, the training location of the highly decorated Japanese American 442nd Infantry Regiment, was a bonus. Oh, German POWs were kept on Camp Shelby during WWII as well. So much history!

We stopped at the Veteran's Museum while traveling through Tupelo on vacation. It was a pleasant surprise to find the wide variety of items on display, spanning many years of our country's history. Unique items were enhanced by the stories shared by Tony Lute. His dedication to preserving history and honoring veterans is evident in the fine displays in the museum. Well worth the trip off the interstate to learn more about history.

This small museum about the life of Emmett Till was VERY well done and we would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone who is interested in learning about the life of an individual of color in the 1950s and 1960s! If Civil Rights is something which interests you, this is a detour you need to make and find this museum at the end of a gravel road in Glendora, MS???? Great job on tackling this difficult story!

This military museum, founded in 1996, is home to thousands of military artifacts and memorabilia. The museum also owns an extensive library which includes books, periodicals, newspapers, documentaries, and movies of the military genre. The museum is available for tours, research, and education about our local veterans and their contributions to our military services.
My husband and I are both retired from the US Air Force Reserve and Active Duty. The museum is loaded with memorabilia and donated items from family and military members from the Civil War to current. When you come in the door you are greeted by a row of manikins dressed in a variety of military uniforms. I noted there wasn't a female Air Force uniform and offered to donate mine, provided I still have it. I certainly wouldn't be able to get into it anymore. I might not have the uniform but I do have my black leather purse that was issued to me in 1972 and my beret hat. Definitely a place to visit, staffed by volunteers and donations.
