Mystic Sands is great for couples, families, business or independent travelers and is located right on the beach about 10 minutes from Neiafu center. The units have private kitchens so you can prepare your own meals if you like. If not we are happy to make breakfast or any meal for you. We also provide free kayaks and wifi is available free of charge in all rooms.
My experience at Mystic sands went FAR above and beyond what I was expecting. I was expecting a regular hotel experience, but it turned out to be far more. Mossy and her husband Maka are the caretakers for the hotel and they took care of us like family from the start. Maka is the driver for guests (including airport pickup/dropoff) and Mossy takes care of breakfast, activity/excursion bookings and pretty much everything else. The hotel has (I think) 5 regular rooms, plus a standalone large house with two king bedrooms. We booked a regular room but Mossy moved us into the standalone house since we were the only guests there. Throughout our stay, my friend and I interacted with Mossy/Maka many times. Mossy is like a mother and has an outpouring of love and kindness. TIP - If you are there on a Sunday - go to church with Mossy and Maka. The language is Tongan but the experience was spiritual and heartfelt... and the singing is fantastic. TIP - Remember Tonga is more about cultural experiences... There are not a lot of restaurants/bars/etc., so grab your own food at the market/store. Definitely make sure to have food/drinks purchased before Sunday, as stores are closed all day Sundays.

Reef Resort is a wonderful, boutique resort located on a tranquil island in beautiful Vava'u. The resort has four stunning bungalows (fales) each with air conditioning, private decks, walk-in showers, tea/coffee making facilities, refrigerator and the most amazing sea views. Finished to a high standard with tasteful furnishings and a modern feel, The crystal clear waters provide brilliant snorkelling and one of the best snorkelling spots in Vava'u, the Japanese Gardens, is just off the beach.
6 weeks at South Pacific is amazing. Austrian owner and young Austrian chef Simon made our stay at Reef Resort just unforgettable. Big boss is all time around you reading you wishes and making you day best ever. Food and special dinners are just over top quality. Served awesome decorated and tasting like “angel singing” around you. Beautiful islands around, great snorkelling at this very cozy place. If you have a chance, it should be place to visit. If you come in whales season, can swim with those magnificent and sweet animals.

This is what a remote island resort should look like. We stayed in the treehouse and loved how everything is woven into nature. I took my shoes off when I arrived and didn't put them back on until I left! It felt like my own private island. Thank you, Ben and Lisa!

The Resort is nestled on the beachfront of the island of U'tungake. This boutique styled island resort offers the best of both worlds - the isolation of an island, with the convenience of being linked to the mainland. All 12 individually themed rooms have views of the golden sand beach and torquoise waters of the harbor. Only metres from the waters edge, all rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, coffee/tea making facilities and en-suite bathrooms. Six rooms are vailable with air conditioning. A beachside bar and restaurant provide an international level of food and beverage service. The overwater dining "fale" and swimming pool are recent additions to the resort in 2012.
Secluded location, away from town. The private beach was incredible for snorkeling. The resort does offer a shuttle to and from town. Room is modern, clean, and comfortable. Food was good. Service staff was friendly.

Each of the resort’s 10 roof bungalows offers a Polynesian decor with modern amenities such as air conditioning. All bungalows are ocean view and very affordable, double occupancy with all meals. Nightly dining under the stars or a picnic lunch on a private island is in store for Mala’s guests.
Although the owners were lovely the resort was run down and falling apart. The paths to the bungalows were super muddy and every walk resulted in muddy feet and shoes. Had to take a boat to the island in the absolute pouring rain and the boat they sent had no cover, so we were completely drenched by the time we got to the island, along with our luggage. The restaurant doesn’t offer you food choices. They serve what they have which is extremely limited. At no point did we see the prices, which we realised afterwards was expensive. For one night, dinner, breakfast and boat ride both ways for 2 ppl was $600 TOP, which we felt was way too much for the quality of stay, food and transportation. Would not recommend.

first impression, you'll see the boathouse apartment sign on the top of the road.directions to the office is hard to find, you really have to keep driving on your right there's a driveway down the hill.drive all the way down next to mango and ask around for the boathouse apartment because there's no sign for boathouse apartment office.. room are nice and clean, bed are comfortable may be they should check the mattress as we both feel the springs from underneath, no milk in the frid ge but they got milk powder and it was dried up solid. horrible..anyways minors thing but it could be better.

Puataukanave International Hotel rests in the heart of a gorgeous harbor landscape surrounded by unspoiled islands and the natural charm of Vava'u's main town, Neiafu. The Hotel offers a wide range of rooms to suit all budgets, from the spectacular oceanfront suite to the comfortable economy accommodation.
Like the previous reviewer we arrived at the check in time of 11am to find that the hotel policy is 2pm check in. However the friendly helpful young women staff managed to get us in about half an hour later. There was an air-conditioner in the room which we plugged in and were told that that maid eould come with the remote to make it work. When we came back to the room an hour so later we discovered that the plug and the lead had been cut off! So definitely no air conditioning! There was a rickety pedestal fan that sounded like a train until we tightened up all the bits ourselves. The room is huge and light with sea views. It has once been a good hotel but room maintenance has not been kept up. We got electric shocks off the fridge, the lights above the beds didn’t work, the shower door did not shut so the bathroom was completely flooded each time we had a shower. The water went off twice without warning. The mattresses were old and soft. There was only one dining chair in the whole room and no chairs to sit on out on the balcony and admire the beautiful seaview. It was difficult to sleep because the room was very hot. Room cleaning service was good. We didn’t bother to pay for any Wi-Fi.
