Sporting “raccoon eyes”—pale circles where your sunglasses used to be—is something of a badge of honor in Talkeetna. That’s because it means you probably climbed or hiked up Denali, the 20,310-foot peak that sits at this former mining town’s back door. Rough-hewn logs are the building material of choice for everything in town from humble cabins to grand lodges. The signage is largely done by hand, so the letters are often squished together because the painter ran out of room. There are plenty of outlets here ready to take you on an adventure, whether it’s fly fishing, whitewater rafting, or soaring in a propeller plane over the Alaskan Range (landing on a glacier is optional).

Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge by Pursuit is set on a ridge above the small community of Talkeetna on the south side of Denali. Our lodge offers unforgettable views of Denali and the Alaska Range, yet we are just minutes from adventures of a lifetime. Enjoy the view as you relax next to our 46-foot river rock fireplace or shop for Native art from villages across Alaska. Enjoy casual or fine dining featuring Alaska specialties and the best wine selection in the neighborhood.
If it was for the incredible view of Denali, I would have rated it a "1". The hotel had no A/C in the rooms. It hit 80 that day. Your choice is to leave you window open (with 20+ hours of sunlight) or close the curtains and swelter. Plus, we had smoke from the hotel fireplace drawn into our room by the wind. (We thought it was a forest fire at first). The hotel staff smiled and said sorry. The hotel staffing was poorly managed, One girl was manning the snack bar with 15-20 people in line (I guess because the breakfast buffet was so expensive) while 4 desk staff 20' away stood around with nothing to do. The hotel shuttle was inconsistent. Our informal dinner that night was good. For this we paid $375, and both my wife & I left there was colds. I later saw the same room online for $200. Find someplace else in Talkeetna.

Meandering Moose Lodging offers quality rentals in log cabins, rooms or suites. We can accommodate singles, couples, families, groups. We are located 1 1/2 miles from the village of Talkeetna.
We stayed here for 2 nights and reserved the suite in the main lodge. It was very large with a private bath . Both hosts , Kathy and Christie , were superb. They offered use of their full kitchen and offered suggestions of where to dine in town . They also allowed us to use their washer and dryer to refresh our laundry. Beware that this lodge is a ways from town so a vehicle is needed . Also beware that some descriptions of the resort say it is a bed and breakfast and since Covid , no breakfast is served . Our room was very clean and neat . We would definitely stay here again .

We arrived early afternoon only to be told we would have to return after 4 pm as they were still cleaning rooms and were fully booked. So, we drove up to Denali National Park to tour for the next several hours. However, we noticed when we returned after 8 pm, we noticed there were many empty rooms-some with "river views" that we had requested in our booking. My husband and I were unable to open the assigned room with the card and had to walk to the bar requesting help. A very drunk bar patron shouted at him, "Hey, get from behind the bar!" My husband was afraid of being hit by the unruly character with no one to jump in to save him. Finally, the bar tender left his post to assist us to get into the room. We did not feel safe and put a chair, our large suitcase against the door so that we might feel not so threatened. I would not recommend that place to anyone a it was expensive, not a good value and located in a junky tourist trap town. The five star review is not warranted by serious in the know travelers.

Experience a great view of Denali and genuine hospitality from our B&B. Our property is located on a ridge overlooking the Alaska Range, where on a clear day you can see the top of North America. We have 4 rooms with private baths and 2 rooms with a shared bath. Families and small groups are welcome. Spectacular view, clean comfortable home setting, smoke-free, full and continental breakfast, reasonable rates.
We live in Talkeetna and still my wife and I will take a trip up the hill for an unobstructed view of the Aurora and wildlife out behind at least a few times a year. No TV, but there is internet. The rooms are comfortable, the shared bath is setup well. The owners live just off the property and are very gracious hosts. The view of the mountains is impeccable. Be sure to enjoy the “b&b” made fresh every morning (blueberry and banana bread).

Take an amazing day trip every day anywhere from Anchorage to Denali. I believe that you take the trip of a lifetime to gather experiences you’ll never want to forget. That is what I want to help you achieve here at TLC. 1. The cabins are about 13 x 22 prefab buildings that have been fitted with a very basic eating shelf and a rudimentary bathroom. Focus on RUDIMENTARY. One of the 2 cabins we rented didn't have a shower curtain. Check out the picture. 2. There was a small coffee pot with coffee provided except no cups. Nothing to use to drink from unless you brought it. 3. To be fair I found the bed very comfortable. There aren't lots of choices in Talkeetna and it's a very casual town. Anyone wanting true amenities should book the higher end properties.
