A chateau on the banks of the Loire had fallen into oblivion. A jewel dating back to the end of the 19th century, the property of Madame Tonnelle, the wife of General Becker. This serene residence found a new vocation in the 20th century with its conversion into a retirement home. That was until its most recent transformation into an upscale Touraine hotel skilfully pairing the most classical architecture with the most contemporary shapes and colours. Design art and Black & White art adorn the walls of the hundred-year-old Chateau and its pavilions. A lounge bar and reception rooms likewise convey the feeling of pomp and an authentically period lifestyle.

Reviewed By 393bretmStaff were very friendly, efficient, cheerful and helpful. They really could not do enough for us. Breakfast - hot option as well as cold buffet - is worth the cost. The hotel is a beautiful old building tastfully done up in a modern theme with funky and comfortable furnishings. I have two small suggestions - in room mini bar for drinks and shower tray for soap. That's it. We loved Hotel Art and we will return again. Good value, good location, super friendly staff.

Reviewed By MarkBarberWe chose Boutique Hotel Valezieux for an overnight stay on our drive through France and we were not disappointed. We received an extremely warm welcome and immediately felt relaxed. The property is absolutely stunning and this is reflected by how hard the owners work and want you to enjoy your stay. The hotel is located just outside of Tours, which is just a 10 minute cab drive away. The rooms are extremely well appointed and have everything you require. We enjoyed our stay so much we re-booked for our return drive and chose to stay for 2 nights. The owners provided excellent recommendations for dinner and also a Chateau visit, Chateau Chenonceau is a must. The breakfast is delightful and the owners were extremely accommodating on timings. Bedroom Suite No. 2 is gorgeous and looks over the front of the property. Very comfortable bed and good size bathroom. We very much enjoyed our stay/s at this gorgeous boutique hotel and we will certainly be returning on our next drive through France.

Incredible stay
Reviewed By 64anniepAs soon as we made arrangements to stay, we knew it would be a great experience. We were called to set up dinner reservations (it was an amazing meal). Check-in was a breeze, and everyone we encountered was a dream. Friendly, welcoming and professional in every interaction. Herve was an absolute delight and brought us our coffee in the room every morning. We chose to take breakfast in the dining room most mornings but it was offered in room also. Speaking of room, our troglodyte cave was massive and beautifully appointed. We felt comfortable sleeping with the window wide open. The location was fantastic and we spent some time shopping in Tours as well as visiting some chateaus and walking around Rochecarbon and Vouvray. An amazing stay. Highly recommend!

Unfit for human habitation - damp and no ventilation - photos lie
Reviewed By davidmarri0tWe arrived at the property and had to wait 25 minutes for the gate to be opened to get into the property. Were then told we could not park the car inside the gates until we came back later in the evening. Taken to the cave room and found it damp with no ventilation. The temperature outside was 28C. Manager told us the only way to get ventilation was to sleep with the outside door open to the public. We refused to do that because that idea was completely unacceptable. It is our view that the property should not be let until proper damp proofing and ventilation is fitted as with other caves nearby. We left the property and booked in elsewhere. We have demanded our money back.

Reviewed By Paul CThe property sits across the road from the main river running through the area, and is larger that just about anything back home. At the back of the property are high cliffs with houses and more cut into them. It was interesting to get the history of these places and that people still lived there. The road outside is busy in patches but we had plenty of parking and it was easy to get out onto the road. The Tourist Office was just up the road which provided a great reference point to get information on the local area. We found Da Vinci's last home and a number of flea markets nearby The road is also home to a number of wine stores and brilliant restaurants, where we spent a chunk of time, service and food just dreamy. The property has large garden areas which we sat in and had dinner one night and just relaxed in. The variety of plants is stunning and the rose collection huge - note that the owner makes rose jam and other treats which you sample as part of breakfast and can buy to take with you. I had to get more funds out as partner bought plenty. Beds were comfortable and warm.There was room to move around in the rooms and showers were hot. We all had a pile of bags but still load of room in the units. Each unit opens onto the gardens but has a recessed entrance for privacy. Breakfast was served in the main room in the house and was excellent. Plenty of juice, coffee, tea, pastries and fruit. In fact even more than we could eat. The host and partner are proud of the place and it shows. We were able to spend time with them and also get to know their kids who were just full of beans. Ticked all the boxes and price was under what I had expected and very reasonable.. How to judge a place? - I felt welcomed, I was comfortable and I would definitely stay there again.

Consiglio vivamente per chi passa di qui per i prodotti di ottima qualità (si vede dai salumi e formaggi del delizioso tagliere) e per l'eccezionale cucina. Il servizio in inglese è un plus molto gradito!
