Arriving with excitement turned out to be the worst experience of my life.... I am so thankful that I did not have my family with me and rather my buddies as we where attending the KZN Drags... The host Rose actually told me that I should not have stayed in the bush if I did not like insects...how does 1 eat with huge spiders and insects landing in your plate????... These ppl show more love to animals than their fellow human beings.... Wanting to eat my meal in my room and being refused to do so as it is not allowed 'SAID Rose' ... Wanting Coffee at dinner and to be told that coffees are in our rooms... 'Said Mike'..coffee with a tea spoon of insects in the sugar...wow the bush life? .. Eating dinner at 8 30pm.... Not respecting another human beings character or wants and needs as Hosts in the industry you chose to be in is absolutely appalling! This place is a digrace to the travel and tourism industry!

Here you’ll find a malaria-free, secluded, biodiversity hotspot – Makongo Hills. Makongo Hills is a home away from home, offering accommodation and activities suited to the whole family. Makongo Hills invites you to script your own story, connect with and explore this wilderness on your own terms.
We were lucky enough to steal a few days for ourselves on holiday at Makongo Hills, Ven Africa. I must say, the staff were very hospitable and hugely accommodating offering spontaneous activities such as game drives, walks and sundowners on top the hills above the savanna bushveld. Meg, our guide showed us her delightful camera capture sighting offering a secret peek into mysterious world of the shy and nocturnal. On the last night we decided to camp in the tented safari camp near a secluded waterhole. The braai vleis was delicious, beds very comfortable and our every need was taken care of. This truly is a special place – all the comforts without the frills makes for a very worthwhile and reasonably priced getaway!!

Our home away from home accommodation is made up of 5 luxury open plan rooms of either double or twin beds within a double story house with beautiful earthly colours and warm home cooked meals. The reserve is spectacular in every respect. the view from Buffalo Hills is breathtaking. The guesthouse with spacious rooms and on suite bathrooms is great. Breakfasts and lunched were great and the BBQ's in the LAPA area is awesome. At night small lanterns is lighting up the walkways. All staff is always ready to help and to make the stay very comfortable. Everyday there is so many animals coming to drink at the water hole next to the main house. we saw many Impala, Lions, Cheetah, Buffalo, Zebra, Elephant, Ward hogs, birds and many more. We went on day game drives and night drives. this is both amazing to experience. Mike at the steer and Shireen with her great eyesight at night, we saw so many animals that you will not see during the day drives. There are so many other things to do short drive from Buffalo Hills. Shireen will arrange all the extra activities. There are Tiger fishing at Jozini, Elephant and Cheetah encounters. Ghost Mountain trip is great to see the traditional history of the native people. For us the Bush, Wildlife and Safari adventures is priority No 1.
