Hotel Fleur De Lis

Great place to stay

Historic building, perfectly renovated with loads of attention given to details. Spacious rooms and spacious bathrooms. Art in the hotel and bedroom is different and well chosen. Restaurant serves breakfast with plenty options; the Kefir yoghurt is a welcome extra. Dinner was testy, wine options local and of high quality. Great stay!

Central location but in need of a makeover

Reviewed By dorsetf

Hotel is central but has no car park. You have to park at the post office some 3 minutes walk away. There is still parking restrictions there so read the signs. Hotel room was brown, furniture brown, toilet brown Very 70’s. The lighting in the hallway did not always come on meaning walking in pitch black and trying to find your door and unlock it. The restaurant only serves a cold buffet breakfast. This was reasonable but the table and seating are too close and tight. The only real plus side to my stay was the shower was good and it was central so I could go out and get food in the evening

Great stay in quaint Swiss City will be returning in July

Reviewed By Michael W

About to finish up my 9th night staying at the Guesthouse in Le Locle Switzerland. I was here 3 nights last week and six nights this week. The Guesthouse is now my favorite b&b or boutique hotel to stay at when working in the area. let me break down the review into sections: 1. The owner and staff - Regula the owner and Maria at the front desk always have a smile on their faces and all they want to do is make sure you are happy and having a great stay at the Guesthouse. Regula has been here for 2 or more years now and all she wants to do is keep improving the place. She is always asking for suggestions and follows through on them. I wanted different pillows, by the time i came back that night I had new and more pillows in my room. I suggested washclothes in the bathroom (not common in Europe), got back from work that night and there they were in the wash room. We were there on a Sunday and Regula even offered us use of the car the hotel has, who does that for people they have just met? We had our own car anyway but thought that was very nice thing to be offered. Have a free few minutes sit and talk to them, they are a wealth of local knowledge. The two cleaning girls do a great job also. 2. Rooms - There are 8 1 bedroom rooms and I believe 2, 2 bedroom apartments. The 1 bedrooms are all on the first and second floor and the apartments are on the 3rd and 4th floor. I have been in room 103 the entire time. I really like this room it faces the back side of the hotel. The windows are excellent and block most of the noise from the street when you have them closed. There is no a/c which is common in this area so you may need to open the windows. As my co-workers are in 5 or 6 of the other rooms i have seen most of them. They are all basically the same with little differences between them. All the furniture is unique in each room. One thing that is consistent is everything is super clean and kept clean daily. Every room has a small kitchenette in the room with a 2 burner stove, microwave, sink and refrigerator. There is all the dishes, cooking supplies and utensils you can need. I was excited to have the refrigerator as i could have COLD water every day. Typically in Europe all the drinks are room temperature. The bed, at least in my room is very comfortable. There is a TV with a ton of channels and a few in English, to be honest never even turned it on. I rate the rooms an A+ for a non-chain hotel. 3. Bathroom - Each room has a slight variation but all of the ones that I have seen are very clean. My room has a bath/shower combination, toilet and sink. Plenty of storage in bathroom for your supplies. There is a hairdryer in the room and a vanity kit which I did not open. soap, hair and body wash provided, however I bought my own locally when i got there as I would be there a long time. 4. WiFi - as a business traveler who's work day does not end when I leave the office at 17:00 local time, this is the most important thing to me in a hotel. Over the last 5 years I have been in many small cities/towns/villages in France, Ireland, Italy and Germany, and without a doubt I can say the Guesthouse has the best and most reliable WiFi network of any non-chain hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe or even the United States. The trick is that each of the 8 rooms has it's own private router and network in it. That is why I requested staying in the same room. When I returned, my 2 computers, 2 phones and iPad were all automatically connected. Over 2 weeks I never lost a connection and watched Netflix with no issues on my iPad the entire time. Signal was even strong enough to download content from Netflix to watch on the plane later in the week. I have already requested the same room for two weeks in July so my devices will be good to go the minute I get there. Most of the small hotels I have stayed at all over Europe the WiFi is below average at best. Here at the GuestHouse the WiFi is amazing and I could not be happier. 5. Common kitchen - So one thing to know is there is no breakfast option at the hotel Not a big deal for me as I am not much of a breakfast person anyways. However they do provide bread for toast in each room, coffee and tea. Aside from the small kitchenette in your room, on the first floor there is a big common kitchen that anyone can use. It is stocked with all types of spices, oils, seasonings, condiments, chocolates and other treats throughout the week. If you have ever been to Switzerland you know it could be very expensive to eat out every night. Even though my work would pay, i enjoyed a few nights in buying supplies at the supermarket and cooking for myself in the kitchen. One morning I made ham and cheese omlettes for all of my coworkers staying at the guesthouse. I really love having use of a kitchen. The stove/oven is high tech and took a few minutes to figure out how to work it, but once we did, it works great. 6. Le Locle - really quaint little city. You need to have a population of 10,000 to be considered a city, and Le Locle has 10,000 plus a few so it's the third smallest city in Switzerland. The Guesthouse is right in the center. A two block walk takes you to the COOP or Migros supermarkets and there are many bakeries, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Beware that most things close early even during the week and almost everything is closed on Sunday. Also some of the smaller shops are cash only. However most places will take both CHF and Euros since we are so close to the border of France. We ate at a few local restaurants in Le Locle and La Chaux De Fonds and I will review them separately later. There are also two gas stations and two little convenience stores in the town. The church bells ring on the hour every hour and on the half hour. AND I MEAN EVERY HOUR. No breaks in the middle of the night. I sleep heavy so it doesn't bother me, if you don't might want to consider headphones or earplugs. 7. Other - parking at the hotel there are 5 spots behind the building that are first come first serve. If you do not get one of them there are other street options around the hotel. Just check the signage for parking restrictions. There is a laundry room in the hotel which I did not use but other co-workers did. There is a trick to using them and Regula will show you how. Doors do not lock automatically. You have to use your keycard to manually lock them from the outside after you leave your room. So in conclusion a great place to stay, only thing that could make it better was if I was getting my Marriott Rewards points for the stay. Just made my lifetime Platinum status this year so I don't mind giving up these nights in Europe anymore. Can't wait to return. already booked my July stay and then will be back a few more times later this year.

Almost a gem

Reviewed By veronicaedit

The place is lovely and the historic heritage is an amazing feature. Staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was really good and abundant. I didn’t enjoy my room in the sense that I thought it was a bit old and dusty, but there are other rooms that looked more airy and bright, I should have asked for a swap. I think that if they would invest in new linen and towels and in some nice toiletries it could really be a little treasure. Still worth a visit.

Dogs permitted, but not welcome

Reviewed By 582michaelar

We stayed at the auberge half for work, half for leisure. This is why we took our two dogs for 1 night. We received permission, against fee, but we realized that dogs are not welcome. I was the leisure party and did, as a result, not feel welcome either. We arrived just when the restaurant was closing at 9pm, but we were offered great salads, cheese, desert. Wonderful organic products, quiet, very clean and pleasant room. Great walk with the dogs the next day!

Einfach aber gut

Reviewed By danielhentsch
