A slice of heaven in Normandy
Reviewed By cev21Various family members stayed here for a reunion and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. It is ideally situated for exploring the many nearby places of interest. Our own room, in the creatively converted stables, was delightful, immaculate and quiet with a powerful shower in the bathroom. The two other rooms were equally attractive. Some of the linen on our bed was antique and hand-embroidered and reminded me of that sewn for my swiss grandmother's wedding trousseau c. 1900. The main house where we took breakfast was elegant and originally decorated. In the five days we spent there, we tried to sample all the delicious homemade jams.The owner was utterly charming and a gifted and informative hostess. Three of us were travelling without a car and she drove us all over - and collected us - and made it her mission that we were happy and well entertained. All this she did in between cooking, washing, ironing and taking care of her own family. No-one could have done more for us and nothing was too much trouble. This was a superlative experience and we hope we may return.

Cosy B&B, unfriendly owner
Reviewed By ivd550The location of the B&B is perfect if you want to go to Normandie, Deauville, les Etrats, ... We had a lovely room in a quiet surroundings. Unfortunately we did not feel comfortable during our stay because of the way we were treated by the owner. From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome. We arrived at the agreed time but our room was not ready, which seemed to agitate the owner. We didn't mind, but the owner made us feel like we were a huge inconvenience. She did not give us any explanation about the facilities, couldn't/wouldn't explain directions to the lake. She rolled our eyes and sighed when we told her we didn't order the breakfast. Etc... Whenever we saw her, she never asked how we we're doing or if everything was okay. We would have liked to stay there but without the atmosphere that was present.

Good restaurant, appalling accommodation
Reviewed By daniele sExcellent restaurant, appalling hotel I was happily surprised to be offered the full menu on the half board basis, the choice was limited but all locally sourced and beautifully prepared, the faux filet was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was equally excellent, the best coffee I have had in a long time. However, the hotel itself seriously needs uplifting, the approaches are unkempt, the owners and friends smoke in the open doorway sending the fumes in the entrance hall and restaurant. Guests were not wearing masks when circulating around the dining room. The ceiling light in my room (3) was dangerously dangling down and the main light in the bathroom was not working, when I mentioned it to the owner, he shrugged his shoulders and explained that the previous guest hanged himself from the light. The soap dispenser badly needs replacing. The bedding and towels were excellent.

Terrible Experience - Zero Service
Reviewed By andy50210I got an email from these jokers at 11pm telling me that I was booked here, when I never booked there at all. They said I had to contact them 24 hours before check-in if there was any problem and check-in had to be before 7am (yes really). I tried to contact them as I had not even booked but no answer from phone, no reply to email. So I assumed it was a spam email, that is until it appeared on my credit card statement. Tried to contact them, no reply most times, then one to say nobody there spoke English (strange that the fake confirmation email was perfect English). In the end I had to cancel my credit card and mark it as a fraud, which caused major inconvenience.

Reviewed By SidBarrasWith limited choice we chose this low budget hotel. The proprietor is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable . There was plenty of hot water in the en suite bathroom. Breakfast was good

Reviewed By Jackie Bhis is a lovely old house & gite that has been loveingly restored by it's current owners. The place itself is utterly charming, enhanced by the lovely Micky and Ricardo, who really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. We cannot recommend this highly enough.

Un bel endroit de plus, dans cette charmante région
Reviewed By Pierre MAu moment où nous avons réservé au château de Surville, le lieu n’avait pas de site internet et les seules informations disponibles étaient celles de Booking.com. D’où l’importance de donner quelques informations sur l’endroit : Le château a été racheté en 2020 par Anne et Gilles, un couple qui en est tombé amoureux et a décidé de lui redonner vie. Nous ne sommes donc pas dans une vieille demeure de famille où le mobilier a été accumulé au fil des générations. Ce sont eux qui, avec énormément d’énergie et d’enthousiasme, le rénovent et le réaménagent. Lors de notre séjour, tout n’était donc pas parfait dans la chambre où nous avons dormi (la 16), mais la gentillesse de l’accueil de nos hôtes rattrape ce qui n’est pas encore au point. Nous avons pu voir toutes les chambres du premier étage et nous recommandons vivement de loger dans la partie sud de la bâtisse (chambres 18, 19 et 20), car les pièces sont baignées de soleil et la vue y est particulièrement agréable sur la verdure et le clocher de Surville au loin. Pour apprécier confortablement ce cadre agréable, les chambres gagneront à avoir toutes des fauteuils, plutôt que des chaises. Il faisait encore froid lors de notre séjour et nous n’avons pas pris le petit-déjeuner dans la grande salle du château, mais dans le logement d’Anne et Gilles, un peu comme dans une chambre d’hôtes, ce qui caractérise finalement assez bien l’esprit du lieu.
